Welcome to my 8th Kickstarter campaign and my new book project: ’Painting & Vegetation’. After my previous terrain crafting books ’Buildings’, ’Tools & Materials’ and ’Gaming Boards – Vol. 1’, my upcoming book will contain numerous tutorials about painting and vegetation.

After all, many tabletop fans also use purchased kits made of MDF, resin or plastic in addition to self-made terrain. 3D-printed terrain is also becoming increasingly popular. But what about painting? Which colors and techniques achieve the best results quickly? How to paint cool lighting effects and atmospheric weathering? And finally, how to create atmospheric vegetation with grasses, trees or other plants? You’ll find all the answers and countless design tips in my new book ’How to build tabletop terrain: Painting & Vegetation’.

Whether you are new to the tabletop hobby or a long-time fan, inexperienced or skilled in crafting and painting, you’ll find detailed, step-by-step guidelines of how to paint and green atmospheric terrain and gaming boards!

Special feature: All painting tutorials are fully modular and contain many optional steps for even more impressive results. Do you want to paint your terrain as quickly as possible but still with cool effects? Or do you have more time to emphasize additional details and add weathering? The book has all options covered, so you can choose the tutorials, tips and tricks that best fit your time, skills and budget. The same applies to the instructions for greening and decorating your terrain pieces and gaming boards of course.

The Pledge Levels:

Pledge now for this brand-new A4 sized and printed book – available in English and German – and get a substantial discount on the later retail price of 55€: This Kickstarter campaign will save you at least 10% when simply selecting the Physical Pledge (49€) – or you can save 20% by choosing one of the limited Early Bird Pledges (44€ each).

If you go for the Digital Pledge and the PDF version of the book, you’ll save 20% compared to the retail price and of course there are no shipping costs. And if you like to get the printed book and the PDF version as well, you can even save 25% compared to the later retail prices by choosing the Combined Pledge.

When the books are shipped (expected in April 2025), the PDF versions will also be available for download. Either via a service provider such as Drivethru RPG or via a separate download server (this download offer will then be available for at least 3 months).

The 5 Sections of the Book:

1. Detailed knowledge of materials: Acrylic paints, oil paints, spray cans, pigments, airbrushes – there is a wide range of products and tools available for painting terrain, and they don’t necessarily have to be expensive. Learn all about the most useful components and how you can best work with them to produce stunning effects.

2. Professional use of tools and techniques: Good tools are a big help, but there is a knack to achieving great results with them. Therefore you’ll discover many detailed tips and techniques: Wet-on-wet painting, stippling, layering, dry brushing, weathering and how to use any of your painting tools best.

3. Colorful painting guide: To get the perfect result for your new terrain pieces on your gaming board the book offers you lots of beginner friendly tutorials. You can expect creative painting ideas with numerous color variations that cover every mood and setting. The free reference cards (see Stretch Goals) then summarize these tips separately for you.

4. Modular tutorials: Each step-by-step guide in the book has a modular concept. This means that optional steps are added to each basic sequence. So you can decide for yourself: whether you want to add further details and extra effects in addition to the actual painting or greening. To choose the ones that best fit your time and budget.

5. The perfect green: After painting, the final touches are added with static grass, flock and other materials. Once again, you can expect richly illustrated step-by-step instructions and modular tutorials. To put the finishing touches easy to your terrain pieces and gaming boards – and make them even more fun to play with!

Stretch Goals:

This campaign starts with a 180-page book. By funding this project and unlocking several stretch goals many more pages may be added. Moreover, there will be free reference cards with handy painting tips for you … so stay tuned!

The first stretch goals will be revealed at noon on Monday, February 19th.

Add-ons:

You can also add my previous books to your Early Bird Pledges, Physical Pledge and Combined Pledge. You can either select all add-ons directly during the pledge process or order them after the campaign in the Pledge Manager, which will go online later this year. Because no matter how many books and add-ons you want: The already low shipping costs remain stable!

Since I can also offer my previous books as add-ons in this campaign, I was able to significantly reduce the shipping costs – see the table below. And: No matter how many books and add-ons you add to your pledge, the shipping costs remain the same.

The shipping fee will be added automatically to your pledge, depending on your country – see the table below. Shipping is worldwide with DHL (and it’s partners in specific countries).
