Warcrow: Rules update 1.6
Warcrow Rules version 1.6 is finally here! Besides debuting a new mobile-friendly format for the document, today’s update is massive, covering both rules and troop profiles. Let’s take a look at ev-ery-thing that’s changing!
In this version of the Warcrow rules, information scattered in different in the following documents has been gathered:
- Rulebook
- Rules updates
- Tournament rules
Additionally to the unification of the rules, the update includes the following changes:
- Thorough revision of wording and writing throughout the whole rulebook, in order to clarify its meaning and facilitate its comprehension and game application.
- Restructuring of some rulebook sections:
- Game summary
- Basic concepts
- Miniatures: Troops and Units
- Distances and Measurements
- Line of Sight (LoS)
- Engaged units only have LoS towards the units engaged with them.
- Dice and Symbols
- Dice Rolls
- Revision of the roll steps (both simple and face to face).
- Types of Dice Rolls
- Unification of concepts: WP roll and WP test. Henceforth, always WP roll.
- Preparing the Game
- Playing the Game
- Activate a unit
- Updated names of actions to preserve coherence with the new skill names.
- Specified the application order for effects at the end of an activation.
- Revised positioning maneuvers.
- Revised conditions to perform opportunity attacks (you may perform them while engaged with other units).
- Revised the steps of an attack, opportunity attack and ranged attack.
- Revised the limitations in units engaged in combat.
- Revised “Hold and shoot” requirements.
- Revised the “Rest” action.
- Skills
- New section “Skills” detailing how they work.
- Defined the concepts of Skills: combat skills (formerly just “skills”), command skills, passive skills, tinge skills and magical skills (formerly “spells”).
- Magic
- Revised the steps of casting a spell.
- Stress and Morale
- Revised wording in Flee.
- States
- Updated the slowed state and clarified its application during the move action.
- Damage
- Characters
- Revised the behaviour of Characters within a unit (Supports do count as a troop now).
- Revised the token management when a Character joins or leaves a unit.
- Terminology and Keywords
- Added Enhancement section.
- Revised the wording in shove, attract, place and displace. Shove and attract distances cannot be reduced; they must always be applied entirely.
- Specified when applying Elite. Now it can affect the disarmed and vulnerable.
- Limited to 1 the number of times you can reroll (repeat) a die.
- Keywords revised: Scout, Ambusher, Large, Spellcaster, Bloodlust, Preferred Terrain, Manned.
- Added how it works to gain keywords.
- Terrain
- New keyword: Unstable.
- Removed the rules for traps.
- Adventures
- Added example annex with the revised longer examples.
