Star Wars: Shatterpoint 2026 Unit Updates
Hello there!
We have some exciting things for you today. The Unit update in 2025 was a great success, and building off that, we are here today to bring you another for 2026!
The purpose of this update is to address Units where we felt we missed the mark, whether in theme or power level. These changes should add more excitement and diversity to gameplay in your Shatterpoint games.
RC-1138 “Boss”, Cassian Andor, “Sev” and “Scorch”
This first group of units falls into our “missed the mark” category in terms of power level. As the game grew and developed, some Units began to pull away from the rest of the pack. Their potent damage output and powerful movement rules allowed them to perform at a very high level across the board, so we made a variety of changes to bring them more in line. Here are a few highlights.
This Town is Ready to Blow
This ability provided a great deal of damage every time the struggle changed, win or lose. This could put a Strike Team that just won a struggle in a position to start the next one far behind due to the added value of this ability. We have changed it to now only trigger when your opponent claims a struggle card. This ensures the burst of damage only occurs when the game is closer to parity or when the Cassian Andor player is behind. It should prevent situations where the ability pushed the game out of reach while his Strike Team was already ahead.Delta, Give Me an Explosive Solution
This ability was originally very open ended. It could provide significant movement with minimal restrictions, grant Hunker tokens for defense, or deal substantial damage while removing Hunker tokens from enemies, and sometimes it did both. It has been restructured to reduce its peak power and create much clearer use cases overall.Rule 17: Always Make Sure They’re Dead
This rule received a small but meaningful change. It now only allows melee attacks. “Sev” and “Scorch” are a powerful support unit, and Rule 17 previously allowing ranged attacks made it very easy for them to help a Strike Team pile on damage. Now, this gung ho duo needs to put themselves in harm’s way and use their vibroblades to finish the job.
Snowtrooper Lieutenant, Jedi Master Kit Fisto, and B2 Battle Droids
This update also gave us an opportunity to give some Units a glow up, making them more interesting to play and better aligned with their place in the Star Wars universe.
Snowtrooper Lieutenant
This steadfast soldier of the Empire was often overshadowed by the Stormtrooper counterpart. To address this, we focused on his role as the defensive complement to the Stormtroopers’ offensive style. Where the Stormtrooper Sergeant leans into Coordinated Offensive to elevate the unit, the Lieutenant uses Imperial Discipline to help Stormtroopers retain their Hunker tokens and mitigate debilitating conditions. This makes him a strong force multiplier.Jedi Master Kit Fisto
While Kit Fisto had very strong defensive tools, opponents could often ignore him and deny those abilities any impact. His identity has been reworked so he can capitalize on nearby missteps, improving his positioning or displacing enemies from key objectives. This should make him a more active presence with greater influence on the game.B2 Battle Droids
This Unit did not fully meet expectations as a frontline bruiser. To address this, we improved their synergy with a range of Droid Secondaries. Close Range Annihilation being innate not only improves their attacks overall, but also pairs well with abilities like Tactical Network and Appetite for Destruction, allowing rerolls on their five dice attacks. This reinforces their role as damage dealers in Droid focused Strike Teams.
Infiltration
Finally, we want to talk about a change to all instances of the Infiltration ability. As the game matured and more mission sets were released, this ability consistently over performed. We have adjusted it across the board to reduce its power and bring it more in line with similar abilities. You can find all the changes in the Unit Update 2026 –HERE–.
While on the topic of updates, it seems some eras on updated cards were changed incorrectly last January. CT-9904, Elite Squad Leader, General Veers, Tactical Genius, and Grand Admiral Thrawn all had incorrect Eras. These have now been corrected.
- CT-9904 has been updated to Reign of the Empire through Age of Rebellion.
- General Veers now correctly reflects Age of Rebellion.
- Grand Admiral Thrawn’s card was removed from the document as it had not actually changed
