Our Third Weekend Teaser for June… Meet the 15 cm sIG 33, WWII Germany’s standard heavy infantry gun and the largest weapon ever classified as an infantry gun by any nation! Because its massive weight made field deployment tough, this beast was frequently adapted into mobile tanks and vehicles. Despite its raw power and the unique demolition capabilities of its specialized Stielgranate 42 obstacle-clearing shell, logistics were a constant battle: it was so heavy it required horses or low-speed towing just to move. The sIG 33 was produced between 1936 and 1945; around 4,600 were built.
