Norse Dwarf Clans: Elite Guard

Dwarves—dwergaz in Proto-Germanic—are deeply rooted in Scandinavian and broader Germanic myth and folklore. This project draws on these origins, combining early medieval armory with classic fantasy elements to create a distinctive Norse Dwarf army designed for large-scale mass battle systems.

This campaign expands upon the previously released Norse Dwarf Clans range by introducing veteran and elite formations that represent the hardened core of a seasoned Dwarf host. The new units included in this project are the Anvil Guard, Greybeards, and Jarl’s Hammers—warriors defined by heavy armor, ancestral weapons, and years of battlefield experience. Together, they provide the backbone of a disciplined and resilient Dwarf force, equally suited for holding the line or delivering decisive counterblows.

Through the Kickstarter format, this range can be grown further via stretch goals, unlocking additional models, command options, and variants as the campaign progresses. With your support, the Norse Dwarf Clans: Elite Guard will strengthen the Varus Miniatures Dwarf range.

What models am I offering?

This Kickstarter Project offers three completely new Dwarf units, that match the style and the scale of the model in the previous Norse Dwarf Project. You can either use them as alternative Clan Warrior units to give your army a more interesting look on the battlefield or use experimental rules that give you access to these beloved elite units.

Greybeards: Veteran Dwarves equipped with Long Axes and shields.
Jarl’s Hammers: selected warriors with two-handed Hammers and shield on the back.
Anvil Guard: Heavily armoured dwarf Warriors with one-handed axes, hammers and shields.

Of course, if we hit our funding goal, there will be stretch goals with even more exciting rewards.

The models will be delivered on strips for grand scale battle and separate.
The models will be in 10mm scale and scaled up to 15mm scale.

All rewards in this project are digital 3D files in STL format, intended for home 3D printing.

If you do not have access to a 3D printer, the models will later be available through selected print-on-demand partners I collaborate with.

All models were digitally hand sculpted, with Tablet and stylus, no AI was used in the process.

The Greybeards are veterans beyond counting, their grey beards bearing witness to hard-won wisdom and perfected warcraft. Each has survived wars long forgotten and grudges never forgiven. They stand stone-faced, shoulder to shoulder, fighting without haste and striking only when the outcome is certain. To see a Greybeard fall is rare — to see one retreat is unheard of.

The Jarl’s Hammers are warriors trusted to stand where the battle rages the worst. Chosen for strength, resolve, and unshakable loyalty, they form the hard striking core of the host, advancing at their lord’s side or driving deep into the enemy’s strongest ranks. Their great hammers are not symbols of authority, but tools of war — raised to break shieldwalls, crush armor, and end battles with brutal certainty.

The Anvil Guard are sworn to hold what must not fall. Clad in heavy armor and trained to endure punishment that would break lesser warriors, they form an unyielding wall before hearth, gate, and lord alike. They do not pursue the enemy — they deny him. Like the anvil they are named for, they stand fast until every blow has been spent.
