Khurasan Miniatures: Neue Preview
Khurasan Miniatures kündigen auf Facebook eine neue Armee an.
You may recall I asked for input at the beginning of the year to make a range of miniatures not made before for ancients. I got lots of good input here and on the groups, and then someone reached out by email and suggested an army that really intrigued me. This is the army I had made in 15mm.
They are the Sabir, a tribe of eastern Huns. They are best known for getting tangled up in the wars between Justinian and the Sassanids. They fought on both sides but seem to have had better fortune when allied with the Byzantines.
Sometimes they are described as Turks, although I’ve also seen it suggested they may have been Iranian.
The image shows a general and standardbearer on foot. Strangely for Huns (or Turks), they had lots of aggressive foot called “hoplitai” by the Byzantines — these fought in close order and launched fierce charges. In DBx they’re Wb.
The Sabir were ruled by a queen right out of a Conan novel — Queen Boa. She was not to be trifled with. 🙂
This coming week a starship will be released and after that the 28mm Avars, but the Sabir and early Western Han Chinese will not be too far behind them.
