If you’re a fan of Warhammer, there’s a good chance you’ve leafed through Warhammer 40,000: The Ultimate Guide and know just how much awesome artwork, photography, and background lore there is between its pages. Now it’s the turn of the Mortal Realms to get the same executive treatment with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: The Ultimate Guide – written by Age of Sigmar experts Jordan Green and Phil Kelly in partnership with our friends at DK – but there’s one teensy problem to overcome: we don’t have a cover star.

We need a properly legendary hero* to stand proud on the front of this momentous book, and while we’ve narrowed it down to three options, there’s just no way to decide who the top dog is. Also das analoge Buch in 40k war für Neueinsteiger gar nicht mal so schlecht. Ich würde an Stelle von DK Book aber auf eine Mini im Cover verzichten. Das hat beim 40k Charakter Guide die Hälfte des Werkes eingenommen und ist toter Raum, wenn man mal den Titus rausgenommen und gebaut hat.
Beim Cover dürfte übrigens Archaon gewinnen. Ionus Krypborn sollte selbst AoS Spielern wenig sagen, wenn sie nicht tief in der Stormcast Lore drin sind. Und Indraste war zwar das Postergirl von Edition 3, aber ich denke nicht, dass die in der Community so ein großes Standing aufgebaut hat wie der Oberanführer des sterblichen Chaos. (Da dürfte bspw. eine Neave Blacktalon bekannter sein als Mädel bei den Stormcasts)
Aber beim Ultimate Guide, den es nur auf Englisch gibt, gabs ja keine Mini aber viel mehr Infos. Ist ja hier dann das AoS Pendant des Ultimate Guide. Größeres Buch und mehr Inhalt.
Witzig, dass sie da auch den alten Nagash zeigen.
Alberne Annekdote:
Bei der Studiofigur war der Titel des „Liber Nagash“ aufgemalt. Einer aus meinem damaligen Spieler-Dunstkreis mokierte sich darüber, weil er doch wirklich meinte, das sei Deutsch! Selbst als Heranwachsender in den 90ern – bei all dem Kontext eine echte „Meisterleistung“… Mal ganz abgesehen davon, dass da ein „e“ für „lieber“ fehlt…
Den alten Nagash hab ich auch noch hier stehen. Eine der hässlichsten Minis aus der Zeit, aber trotzdem Kult.
Im 40k Character Guide haben die das auch schon so gemacht. Also bei besonderen Charaktermodellen die alten Miniaturen abgebildet, sofern verfügbar. Bei AoS ist das überschaubar, aber dennoch möglich (Teclis, Alarielle, Archaon, etc.).
Aus drei legendären Helden soll man wählen. Ich kenn nur den einen, aus dem Vorgängerspiel.
Stormcasts und ungeteiltes Chaos sind mMn. absolut nicht die Stärke von AoS.
