Hello Gang Leaders of Venice, the time has come to raise the black and begin your pillaging adventure along the city’s canals with the latest Guild heroine preparing to make her presence known in Carnevale Miniatures Game. For several years now, the Dockworkers of our fair city have fought frequent and fierce battles against the Patricians and their Ottoman mercenaries for control of the Adriatic with both sides locked in a stalemate for naval dominance. Though we feel the tides could be turning to the Guilds favor thanks to Mira O’Shea but, who is this Pirate Queen?
Who is Mira O’Shea
With the chaos of the opening of the Rent and the destruction that ensued, it is no surprise that corsairs and bandits became rife across the Mediterranean and further afield, finding easy pickings at coastal towns and shipwrecks off the coasts. Mira O’Shea was one such pirate, her beauty and charisma earning a loyal following and a small fleet of vessels with which to plunder. Many times, naval vessels entering the Adriatic were captured by Mira O’shea and word reached the Ottomans and Venice that a pirate fleet was essentially stymying trade between the two.
The Ottomans responded first, and the next flotilla of trade ships was escorted by several ships of the line. Mira, eager for more plunder, realised her mistake too late. As soon as her fleet entered firing range, the Ottoman cannons opened fire. Severely outgunned, O’shea’s fleet of brigands was torn apart; no ship was spared, and no prisoner taken alive, her life was only saved by the force of an exploding powder keg knocking her into the ocean before she could be burnt alive aboard her destroyed vessel.
With the destruction of her fleet, Mira O’shea found herself adrift in the Adriatic, having narrowly avoided capture and execution. Losing hope, she was eventually found and taken in by a small fishing vessel and ferried to Venice. It is in the floating city that she became popular amongst the dock workers, with her natural charisma making her an obvious leader. It was this charisma and her beauty which caught the attention of the local Prince of Thieves who quickly saw the potential of such an ally to the Guilds cause and easily recruited her into the Organization.
