Bicycle-mounted troops were a key component of many armies early in the Second World War, providing light infantry with excellent on-road mobility without the need for fuel or expert maintenance. The Wehrmacht made good use of Radfahrtruppen in its invasions of Poland, France, and the Soviet Union, both for reconnaissance and liaison duties, and rapid advances.

On the Bolt Action tabletop, equipping your infantry with bicycles gives them excellent early-game mobility before they dismount to fight, allowing you to seize key objectives and get to cover before the shooting really starts. Perfect for Recce and Rifle Platoons, they’re a great way to get your force moving without spending extra points on transport vehicles!

The Panzer II was the most numerous German tank at the start of World War II, and thus formed the backbone of the Panzer divisions made legendary in the Blitzkrieg campaigns across Western Europe. Lightly armed and armoured, and already technologically outclassed by heavier vehicles, it nonetheless gave good service, particularly against enemy infantry. Panzer IIs saw extensive service in Europe and North Africa in the early part of the war, and would also play a significant role in Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. Replaced in frontline service by the larger and more modern Panzer III and IV, some Panzer IIs remained in service with training units and second-line formations until the end of the war.

On the tabletop, the Panzer II is a powerful addition to early-war German Armoured Platoons, giving you a low-cost armoured platform mounting the incredibly useful light autocannon. Capable of gunning down enemy infantry with ease and threatening lighter armoured vehicles, it can punch far above its weight in games of Bolt Action.

The German invasion of the Soviet Union was a colossal undertaking, with vast columns of men and vehicles stretching across the vast spaces of Russia. At the head of the invading troops were the Panzer divisions, with their tanks supported by motorised infantry and cyclists, driving deep into the Soviet heartlands. While propaganda footage extensively showed the newest tank designs, the majority of German armoured units were still composed of a mixture of older types, and many infantrymen were forced to march the huge distances into battle. Nevertheless, the forces assembled for Operation Barbarossa were truly enormous in scale.

This bundle lets you field a German force typical of the opening stages of the invasion, with light tanks supported by mobile infantry. Some of the footsoldiers are fortunate enough to ride in the truck and half-track, but others are forced to rely on bicycles, or even walk. However it gets to the battlefield, this force is a potent one! An Armoured Platoon featuring two Panzer IIs and a Czech-designed Panzer 38(t) provides a solid core of mobile firepower, able to take out light armour and infantry, while a Heavy Weapons Platoon ensures that the infantry can go in supported by plenty of direct and indirect fire. The Rifle Platoon itself has great mobility, with cyclists able to range ahead of the main force and seize crucial locations, while truck- and halftrack-mounted troops follow up and consolidate.

Giving you a complete force with a huge range of options for squads and weapons teams, and representing a great saving on buying the components individually, this bundle is the perfect way to launch your own invasion on the tabletop, and can also be used to represent earlier forces in the latter stages of the Blitzkrieg across Western Europe.
