This week the Cygnar Gravediggers artillery shells aren’t the only thing dropping in — they’re bringing out the big guns by unleashing rules for the incoming Assault Strider & Heavy Field Gun.

A solemn new lore entry has a Menite questioning his faith, and a hardened Umbrean nomad enters the battlefield once more.

Big guns, big striders, and big moves from the Gravediggers

Cygnar’s 63rd Trencher Brigade, better known as the Gravediggers, just brought out the heavy support. This week, the official rules go live for both the Heavy Field Gun and the Assault Strider.

For many players, this is the first time seeing the Gravediggers Heavy Field Gun platform — It brings punishing ranged pressure with that unmistakable Trencher grit, airdropped straight into position and ready to level the field.

The Assault Strider made an early appearance at Adepticon, now you can get the full picture — and full rules for this versatile tripod. With its brutal movement and tactical flexibility, the Strider is built to punch through the line and keep pressure where it counts.

Both models will be available for pre-order starting July 10, so keep your eyes on the site and your drop zone clear.

From the shadows of Umbrey – Kapitan Maksim Azlanov

Old Umbrey has always been a land of hard choices and harder people. Kapitan Maksim Azlanov is one of them.

Maksim, a Yhari-Umbrean, grew up in the rural regions living a nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle with a small tribe. After being drafted and pressed into service on the Cygnaran border his supernatural talents elevated him above his peers to replace NCOs as they fell around him.

Maksim earned his legend not with lineage, but with grit. Field Maksim when he arrives in the Old Umbrey Core Expansion.

This week we’re giving you a closer look at this elusive Kapitan. We won’t spoil what he can do just yet, as we will be exploring what’s next to come for Old Umbrey next week!

A flame without fire

Set in the sun-scoured ruins of a Menite temple, Desolation follows Malekus — once a voice of burning faith — as he confronts silence, doubt, and the ashes of a crumbling protectorate. It’s a deeply personal story of belief, loss, and the cost of unquestioning zeal.

“During the AdeptiCon Keynote, I mentioned that in addition to the main Warmachine story arc, ‘Forces Of’ compendiums, and Heroes and Villains pieces, we would also be exploring a series of interstitial stories. I’m delighted to share the first of those with you today, Desolation, written by the extremely talented Matt Goetz.

These interstitial stories offer us a fantastic opportunity to turn the lens away from the main narrative and explore elsewhere in the Warmachine world, helping us shine a light on otherwise unseen regions, characters, histories, and events. Through the interstitials, we can develop characters in more depth, understanding their motivations and relationships with those around them—both friend and foe. They also, as you’ll see in today’s piece, let us explore content which, whilst not currently part of the Mark IV roster, certainly continues to exist in the Iron Kingdoms.

Working with new authors to create this series, I couldn’t be more excited. For Warmachine fans new and old, this is a chance to really delve into the world and start to see how all the pieces fit together in the rich tapestry that is the Iron Kingdoms.
