Xirkaali Lionsnarl Cavalry Regiment – €65.00
The Xirkaali Lionsnarl Cavalry are the shock troops of the Xirkaali horde. This set contains a regiment of highly detailed, multi part Mantic Resin miniatures.
Hemicyons are too large for natural horses, but the hunting cats bred in the Chinlun region are changed by that land’s sorcerous contamination. These steeds are both big and powerful, more than capable of carrying even a fully armoured hemicyon. Lionsnarl cavalry often boast elaborate barding to further protect the mounts and fom which they take their name. The riders equip themselves much like hemicyon infantry, favouring swords and axes over spears and lances. Concentrated into fast-moving squadrons, this cavalry can quickly tear through an enemy position and leave the reeling survivors helpless before the rest of the horde.

Ich bin ja ganz froh, dass sie Cathay nicht 1:1 kopieren.
Ok darauf läuft es also hinaus, um die kompletten Armee Listen zu bekommen braucht man die Erweiterungs Bücher. Also wenn das so ist bleib ich lieber bei der 3. Edition.
Genauso wie zu beginn der 3. Edi (und 2. Edi) mit den Uncharted Empires Büchern auch. Sofern man das halt unbedingt in gedruckter Form haben will.
Na ob die Hundemenschen so ne kevere Entscheidung waren wage ich zu bezweifeln. Wirkt wirklich ein wenig wie die poor mans Cathay army.
Gar nicht böse gemeint, aber zur neuen Edition hatte ich bei dem Vorankündigungswirbel mehr erwartet.
Die Figuren im Set reizen mich leider nicht zum Einstieg. Die Gesichter der Mönche sehen zum Beispiel echt nicht gut aus, beruhigend zu sehen, dass nicht nur ich mich mit gut gemalten Augen schwer tue. 😉
Poor mans Cathay ist eine sehr passende Beschreibung.
Vor allem ist das so ne wilde Mischung aus Hunden, Menschen, einem Affen, ist da auch ein Fuchs?
Tatsächlich hätte ich die geiler gefunden, wenn sie alle im Stil des Affenhelden wären.
Und die Mönche sind coole Modelle die leider komplett durch die Augen runtergezogen werden.
Alles bisschen wild.
Die Regeln werde ich mir aber tatsächlich holen 🙂
„Poor mans Cathay“ halte ich für übertrieben.
Liegt vielleicht daran, dass ich nicht alles immer reflexartig mit GW vergleiche.
Und versteht mich bitte nicht falsch, ich spiele auch gerne GW Systeme, mag deren Modelle und hoffe das GW noch lange existiert. 🙂
Mantic Games hat sich in den letzten Jahren stark gesteigert, was Miniaturenqualität betrifft.
Das ist eine Armee, die mir richtig gut gefällt. Da sind keine negativen Ausreißer mehr dabei.
Weiter so!
Nach vielen Jahren der Abstinenz werde ich mir nun das erste Mal eine Mantic Games Armee für Kings of War gönnen.
Bis jetzt habe ich ja nur geproxt. Das Regelwerk von Kings of War hat mir schon immer besser gefallen als von GW oder One page Rules. Aber diese Armee will ich haben.
Ja, da gebe ich Spy recht. Man darf einfach nicht immer den Vergleich mit ziehen. Allerdings verlieren die Minis hier für mich auch gegenüber anderen Anbietern im ähnlichen Preissegment.
Allerdings mag es auch ein Teil des Stils sein, was mir an den Minis missfällt. Daher ist das ja eh immer ein subjektives Ding.
Am Ende muss jeder für sich bewerten, ob einen das den aufgerufenen Preis wert ist.
Ich finde es prinzipiell erstmal schön, dass dort doch so viel kommt und das System in die nächste Edition geht. Das ist in der aktuellen Lage des Marktes nicht mehr selbstverständlich. Daher drücke ich Mantic weiter die Daumen für das System.
Die Bundles zur Vorbestellung, das beide Bücher als Hardcover (solange der Vorrat reicht) kommen hatte ich so nicht erwartet, dementsprechend auch der hohe Preis (so wie das 3. Edi Hardcover) von dem her eventuell warten bis es bei den Händlern mit Rabatt und/oder Softcover kommt.
Beim Rest halt warten bis die Einzelboxen kommen.
Zur Armee selbst, Mongolische Gnolle hatte ich jetzt nicht unbedingt auf der Bingo Karte, sondern hatte mit chinesischen oder japanischen Echsen/Drachen gerechnet, von dem her erstmal ungewohnt.
Für alle die mit Cathay Proxies gerechnet haben jetzt halt eine Enttäuschung und (und erst recht ungewohnt wenn man Menschen erwartet hat)
Mir gefallen die Modelle und das Thema an sich, meine Befürchtung war das es wirklich nur Cathay in „billig“ wird, was es jetzt mal so gar nicht ist.
Bemalung im allgemeinen ist hat TT Niveau, also nichts übertriebenes das die Modelle besser wirken lässt als sie sind und wenn einen die bemalten Augen stören malt man halt keine.
Placoderms und Depth Horros in Plastik ist auch was feines für die Trident Spieler und die sehen auch richtig gut aus.
Auf jeden Fall was eigenes und man bewegt sich immer weiter von GW bzw den anderen Herstellern weg. Finde ich jetzt Grundsätzlich gut also mal schauen wie die anderen Fraktionen (ohne bisherige Modelle) sich da entwickeln.
Eine asiatisch angehauchte Armee, in der große Hundemenschen als Elite neben normalen Menschen in den Kampf ziehen…? Okay, und da denkst du, du hast mit Mitte 40 echt alles gesehen…
Na ja, Mantic bleibt seinem leicht trashigen Charme jedenfalls weiter treu, so dass auch die neuen Armeen zu einem Universum gehören zu scheinen. Ich finde es aber schon ein wenig schade, wenn die über 15 Jahre alten WHFB Minis, die GW im Rahmen von The Old World neu aufgelegt hat, immer noch besser aussehen als aktuelle Releases aus dem Hause Mantic.
Und abseits davon hätte mir entweder eine Asia-Style Armee mit reinen Menschen (schei* drauf, dass man die mit Cathay vergleichen wird) oder eine Armee komplett aus „Wer-Hunden“ besser gefallen als diese Mischung, wo es dann auf einmal noch einen Fuchs-Mensch oder einen Affen-Mensch gibt – wobei die beiden letzten eher zu einem Asia-Setting gepasst hätten als die eher „westlichen“ Hundemenschen…
