Desolation Terra: Kickstarter läuft
Bei Desolatopn Terra geht es mal wieder um Sci-Fi und Mechs.
It is the year 2850. The fragile peace born of humanity’s first steps to the stars could not last, and the flames of war burn once more. Earth, long since reduced to a charred husk of its former glory, has once again become a battleground as new powers fight amongst themselves for dominion.
I’m Emad, the creator of Desolation Terra. I love tabletop games; roleplaying games, card games, wargames, I’ll happily play anything I can find someone to play alongside.
I’ve tried many miniature games and amassed a number of armies in different gaming systems. However, a few years ago I realized there was something I wanted but no system I had found offered. While there are many mecha games available, I couldn’t find one that really captured the awesome feel of the mecha battles in the anime and videogames that I loved growing up.
So I decided to try to create my own game, where highly-mobile mechs could fly across the battlefield, wielding cool weapons but also mixing it up in hand-to-hand. Not just with generic back-and-forth melee attacks, but in a way that was truly interactive, both between models and with the terrain around them. Knocking each other around, slamming each other into buildings, reacting to incoming attacks.
I focused on making the mechs feel fast and fluid, giving the player options, adding risk-reward mechanics to capture the feeling of a pilot pushing themselves and their mech to the limit. I wanted the game to be fast and easy to play, with both players engaged without long periods of inactivity, but I still wanted it to be tactical and reward good strategic thinking.
While the early rules had problems, they were still a lot of fun, and they did scratch the itch I had been feeling. The local tabletop community were very positive about the game, enjoying the test games and making lots of suggestions for improvements.I realized I had something that could actually work. So, I decided to take a chance, and commit to bringing the game to life for real. With my friends on board, we devoted ourselves to making Desolation Terra the best it could be. It wasn’t just about the rules; we worked hard on creating interesting factions, engaging lore (nearly 850 years worth, lol), and awesome models.
And now we are finally in a position to share our passion project with the rest of the world. I know the wargames market is more crowded than ever, and to the casual observer this might look like just another sci-fi wargame. But I really feel we have something special, and I hope you’ll be willing to give it a chance.
We didn’t want this to be print-to-play; our goal is to provide the highest quality of plastic miniatures and printed accessories. The aim of this Kickstarter project is only to fund the production costs for the first production run of the game. We’re actually covering all of the development costs, and even pre-production costs like the mold manufacturing, ourselves. That’s how much we believe in Desolation: Terra.
This is only the first step. We have so much more planned, so much we want to do and create in the world of Desolation: Terra, and we want to share it with as many people as possible. So please come join us on this journey, and help us to create something special.
Desolation Terra is a fast-paced tactical skirmish game set in a brutal sci-fi future, featuring highly detailed and modular 32mm plastic miniatures. Players command Tactical Combat Armors, towering mechanized warsuits that are highly mobile and heavily armed, supported by specialized infantry and armored vehicles, across highly interactive battlefields.
Designed for 2 or more players, featuring roughly 7 to 20 models per side. Games take around 30 to 90 minutes played on a 3′ by 3 ‚ battle field.
Featuring mechanics inspired by anime and video games with a focus on powerful mechs and detailed interactions between models and the battlefield.
Whether you’re a competitive tactician, a narrative gamer, or a hobbyist who loves painting weathered mechs and foot soldiers, Desolation Terra offers deep tactical gameplay, asymmetric missions, environmental hazards, and a richly imagined world to explore.
