Carnevale: Heaven’s Grace – Divine Seraphim
Embrace the powers of faith and untold Rent magics to revel in Heaven’s Grace. We’ve already discussed the grueling ordeal that Altar Boys are being forced to endure for their faith, and now it’s time to explore the next stage of their evolution. Gradually, the Cherubim’s suffering comes to an end as they transmute into a majestic Divine Seraphim.
A Divine Seraphim is the finished product of a ritual where Cherubim are empowered with even more Rent magic, the miracle completed with the symbolic ’sprouting‘ of the wings, finally replacing the remnants of their tortured limbs. To the Priests conducting the ritual, there is no truer proof that God favours their cause. Once again, to anyone on the outside, these Divine Seraphim’s are hellish abominations and surely are the works of the Devil rather than God.
Many of you at this point will want to know how exactly the Vatican plans to exploit the Divine Seraphim in a combat situation. A powerful and rather expensive Hero at 19 Ducats, this construct gracefully moves around the battlefield unleashing its Divine Flame onto the unworthy. As a unique weapon, the Divine Flame may have a range of 0“ inches but does offer -2 Evasion and -2 Penetration to your attack. In terms of weapon abilities, this construct uses the Template ability, meaning you’ll use a teardrop-shaped template and trace a line between the attacker and the target. Place the template with the center on the line with the small end of the template in range of the weapon (base contact with the attacker if the range is 0“), and the large end further away from the attacker. Any character at least partly touched by the template (friend or foe) is affected by the attack. Roll once for your Attack Roll and apply the roll to every individual character hit. What this means is you’ll want to throw the Divine Seraphim into a group of enemies to cause as much damage as possible, just remember to keep a safe distance yourself.
Beyond its standard weapon, a Divine Seraphim also has the passive Burn With The Fire of Charity special ability. While within 6“ of this character, friendly characters are immune to the Stun ability. At the end of each friendly character’s turn, remove any Stun counters from friendly characters within 6“ of a Divine Seraphim. Additionally, whilst within 6“ of this character, friendly characters are immune to the Poisoned ability. All of this means you’ll need to find a range sweet spot when fielding this character. Placing your own allies too close means you could run afoul of the Divine Flame and its tricky template, but too far away means you risk missing out on the extremely useful Burn With The Fire of Charity anti-Stun effect.
That’s it for today. Make sure you let us know what you think of the Divine Seraphim across the TTCombat socials and head to our website at the end of the month to grab your own Heaven’s Grace box. Explore the current range of Carnevale products here.
