September 2025 Trailer – Frost Alfar of Skutagaard
Greetings adventurers!
With the blazing heat of August upon us, we invite you to turn on the audio and click play to experience the chilling trailer of our upcoming set: The Frost Alfar of Skutagaard!I believe Ani did an excellent job with the trailer editing. If you agree, let her know in the comments! 🙂
The March of the Frost Alfar is the perfect way to end this summer on a cool and epic note.
Here are some work-in-progress shots I took during the month.
Let us know what you think in the comments, and enjoy the trailer! This colored rough sketch, born from an evening of exploring Mundus while working on our RPG, became the starting point of this release. I loved the Frost Alfar from the very beginning, and I’m sure I’ll be playing one of them soon. Populating our world with new cultures and creatures is one of the main things that fuels my passion for sculpting these collections.
Quick sketches on the Remarkable, perfect for capturing the essence of a new set in just a few strokes!
As we discussed on Discord, bringing the first Frost Alfar model to life was no easy task. Life got in the way, and after several failed attempts I decided to restart the project from scratch on the 15th of this month. But I’m really happy with the result I achieved right after. Here’s an unfinished draft (especially the hair!) of the very first Frost Alfar I sculpted.
The hero above is Kvallandir Trollkiller. At first, while sculpting this warrior, I thought that would be the name of his axe. I don’t know where it came from, but as I carved Skutagaard-style decorations on the blade, the name simply came to me. In the end it became the name of this ranger-barbarian himself, and he turned out to be one of my favorite pieces of the month.
I hope you’ll like this hero too! And please… keep him away from your Trolls miniatures!Sculpting this wise druidess of the tundra was a true joy. I especially love the contrast between her bare feet and the heavy cloak adorned with bear paws and bronze medallions. Without a doubt, the most fascinating part to sculpt was her face.
This month, due to health issues in our family I had several days less to sculpt. For this reason, I carefully selected two artists to assist me on the Epic Boss Jotunn and the Cavalry Beast.
Natalia, under my supervision, created the fantastic giantess you saw in the trailer, and I’m happy to share with you the sketch I prepared for her. To simplify the process, since it’s not easy to adapt to the Artisan Guild style in a short time, I decided to personally take care of the face of the Frost Giantess, which you can see below (with and without color).
At the same time, Maria worked on the cavalry of the set, greatly lightening my workload this month. Her beautiful Frostworms, the snow-dwelling zeek of Skutagaard, serve as mounts for the Frost Alfar troops I sculpted. A fantastic collaboration! You can see the Alfar riding their Frostworms in the trailer.
This month I was truly astonished by the painted minis. My thanks go to Dave for the amazing paint job; he captured and brought to life the chill and cold majesty of Skutagaard’s mountains in these Alfar.
Finally, I would like to thank you, our beloved subscribers. There are no words to describe how grateful we are for your support, your comments, and your opinions.
I hope you enjoy this set, and I wish you happy adventures among the ice of Skutagaard!Cheers,
Andrea Tarabella
