New Dashboard & The Tariff Wars

Hey Captains!

We’re back with a fresh update to keep the momentum going and get you all up to speed. This time we’re focusing on two main things—both pretty important.

New Dashboard & Visual Design

As we mentioned in previous updates, we decided to completely redesign the ship dashboard for both production reasons and visual consistency. In this update, we’re showing off the new design and walking you through why we made these changes.

Aesthetic:

We felt the old dashboard just didn’t match the Infinity universe well enough. It had a bit of an “old school” vibe—classic-looking with super bright colors that, for us at least, didn’t quite fit the tone.

So, we went for something more modern and polished—something that really feels like it belongs in a sleek, futuristic universe. The new look is loosely inspired by LCARS, but toned down a bit (since full-on LCARS can be a bit much visually). We’ve also added our own twist.

We played around with sharper angles at first to align more with Infinity’s vibe, but that ended up looking a bit too “Cyberpunk 2077.” In the end, we think we’ve struck the right balance—futuristic with its own personality.

Hope you like it!

Technical stuff:

It’s not just a visual upgrade—we also had to change a few things for practical reasons:

  • Cube slot size: Original slots were exactly 8mm (same as the cubes), which made things tight. We’ve bumped them to 9mm for better usability.
  • Spacing between cubes: Originally just 1mm in some areas, which made producing the transparent dashboard (unlocked during the campaign) pretty tough. That’s now fixed.
  • Panel fold: The dashboard folds for packaging, and in the old design, some key elements got caught in the crease. That’s been sorted too.

New additions

We also added a few things that were missing from the demo version:

Ship Info:

  • Tier: Indicates ship class – Tier 1 (Destroyers, Frigates), Tier 2 (Cruisers, Light Carriers), Tier 3 (Battleships, Heavy Carriers).
  • DWT: Deadweight tonnage – relates to equipment capacity.
  • Mount: Max size of weapons/systems that can be installed.

Acheron's Fall Update Kickstarter 4

We hope you can see how much work went into this redesign. We tried outsourcing it, but it didn’t work out. It’s just too complex and too personal—there are almost 400 unique elements on the panel, many of them interconnected.

We’re super happy with how it’s looking so far, even if there are still a few tweaks left to do. The heavy lifting is done!

Tariff Wars

We’ve had a few questions about this, so here’s a quick breakdown:

As some of you know, there’s currently a bit of a trade war going on, kicked off by the new Trump administration. The U.S. has slapped tariffs on pretty much all imports, meaning significant extra costs for shipping into the country.

Other countries have responded with similar moves, which has made international trade a mess lately. Tariffs change every few days—some are removed, some get doubled.

At the time of writing this, most U.S. tariffs are temporarily suspended… except those for China. So, if we had to start shipping games right now, we’d be in a tight spot and might even have to pause U.S. shipping for a while.

Luckily, there’s still some time before shipping starts, so we’re waiting to see how things develop. Hopefully, logic and good sense will win out and we’ll be able to ship worldwide without delays or extra costs.

We’ll keep you posted—but until shipping time gets closer, we’re not making any final calls.

We’re still grinding hard and hope to have another update with more cool progress very soon.

Thanks for sticking with us—

Stay sharp, Captains!
