Sunday Preview – Two New Battletomes
Dominion was just the beginning – the Stormcast Eternals and Kruleboyz are about to receive new battletomes and a host of miniatures.
Let’s head straight on over to the Mortal Realms to get the low-down on all the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar goodies that are up for pre-order from next weekend.
Sigmar’s chosen warriors have a massive array of new tools at their disposal, such as elite warriors clad in the Maker God’s freshly minted thunderstrike armour. Battletome: Stormcast Eternals contains a massive 76 unique warscrolls, extensive rules for the newly expanded Path to Glory narrative campaigns, and powerful abilities to help you seize victory on the battlefield.
This battletome is also available in a stunning limited edition for true champions of Order, featuring a soft-touch cover with embossed gold foil, gilt page edges, and a ribbon page marker. This edition is limited to just 700 copies, so snap yours up post-haste.
With a whopping 76 warscrolls at their disposal, keeping track of all of the units and abilities available to the Stormcast Eternals can seem daunting. This handy pack of warscroll reference cards and two token boards to help you keep track of your spells, abilities and, battle tactics will make the task a lot simpler.
A new Hero arises for the embattled Stormcasts in the form of the Knight-Judicator with their loyal gryph-hounds. A dedicated ranged combat specialist, the Knight-Judicator brings a devastating terminus greatbow to the field and can call upon the gaze of Sigmar himself to smite their foes.
He’s joined by the Masters of the Sacrosanct, who are now available to pre-order for the first time outside of the Soul Wars boxed set. Available only from the Games Workshop webstore, this set collects the Lord-Arcanum on Gryph-charger and an Evocator-Prime, lending a storm of magical might to your forces.
Fashioned by the hand of Grungni himself, Stormstrike Chariots are able to smash through enemy lines with ease, pulled by specially bred gryph-chargers and carrying two veteran Stormcast Eternals. These passengers strike out at any enemies foolish enough to come close, be it with a tempestuous spear or great stormbow.
Meanwhile, the forces of Destruction marshal their troops and set out to wreak havoc on the Mortal Realms. Battletome: Orruk Warclans includes warscrolls covering greenskins of every ilk, such as the swamp-dwelling Kruleboyz, and even Kragnos, the End of Empires, plus its own suite of Path to Glory rules and much more.
If Destruction is the name of your game, and your other ride is a Corpse-rippa Vulcha, then the limited edition is for you, complete with its own soft-touch cover, gilt page edges, and ribbon page marker.
Make playing games a doddle with this pack of 37 reference cards featuring all of the warscrolls available to the Orruk Warclans, along with two boards full of pop-out tokens to keep track of ongoing effects. Easy mode.
Lead your forces into battle with a mighty Breaka-boss on Mirebrute Troggoth, combining the lumbering strength of a massive swamp creature with the wily cunning of the Kruleboyz Leaders.
Is the armour plating of Stormcast Eternals and thick hides of monsters frustrating your boyz? Pierce right through them with the Beast-skewer Killbow, a vicious war machine capable of threatening even the largest foes with its razor-sharp bolts. With dragon-borne warriors now descending from Azyr, a few of these will be worth their weight in teef.
A new edition means plenty more chances to roll a fistful of dice are on the horizon, so make sure yours match your army with six new sets arriving for pre-order. First up, the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Warclans have their own to accompany their new battletomes.
If you’re more aligned to one of the great Grand Alliances as a whole, there’s a set of dice for you too. Whether it’s Order, Chaos, Destruction, or Death that has your support, their dice sets are a great way to channel the divine will of your Grand Alliance’s pantheon.
We’re a few days into September now, so if you were expecting to see this month’s White Dwarf on its way soon, you’d be right – it’s up for pre-order from Saturday.*
September’s issue of White Dwarf magazine features an Index Astartes on the Space Wolves’ Primaris successor Chapter, the Wolfspear, a Tome Celestial on the Slaves to Darkness, a host of new Kill Team content including rules for an Adeptus Mechanicus Hunter Clade, and much more besides. You won’t want to miss this issue.
If you like your plays on the gridiron to be equal parts skilful and murderous, you’re in for a treat next weekend.
The Dark Elf team may have been out for a while now, but with a shiny new card pack and dice set, as well as a pitch and dugout set to up for pre-order from next weekend, you can bring your home stadium (if you can call the deck of a ship that’s being attacked by a gnarly sea beast a ‘stadium’) and gaming gear right up to date.
