We’re incredibly excited about the updated Mephiston model, and we wanted to share that joy with one of our biggest fans. We sent the model to Paul Murphy, the host of the Forge the Narrative podcast and a longtime Blood Angels fan, then filmed the reveal to capture his reaction. Check it out!
Mephiston is the Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels Chapter of Space Marines, but his other title is the ominous-sounding Lord of Death. He was the first (and only) of his peers to master the Chapter’s curse – the Black Rage – gaining immense power and the admiration* of his brother Space Marines, even if some question whether the price was worth the prize. Now, he’s conquered death itself by crossing the Rubicon Primaris, making his title even more appropriate.
The impressive new miniature is inspired in part by the classic Mark Gibbons artwork from the Angels of Death Codex, with added nods to the increased size and physical power of Primaris Space Marines.
Mark your calendars – Mephiston will be available to pre-order on the 30th of November, alongside the next chapter in the Psychic Awakening series, Blood of Baal! We’ll be taking a closer look at both Mephiston and Blood of Baal in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, you can read up about the Lord of Death in Darius Hinks’ Mephiston: Blood of Sanguinius!
* We all know Space Marines know no fear… but when it comes to Mephiston, most are probably at least a bit unsettled.
Enter the Mortal Realms in 2020
Next year, Warhammer Age of Sigmar fans in the United Kingdom and Spain will experience a whole new way to take their first steps into the Mortal Realms (or start a new army). It’s a weekly magazine called, appropriately enough, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Mortal Realms, and it’s coming your way in January 2020.
You may be asking what the magazine is all about. Very simply, it’s a collection of models along with everything you need to build, paint and then use them in games.
In the case of Mortal Realms, the collection you’ll build is a pair of Warhammer Age of Sigmar forces: heroic Stormcast Eternals and terrifying Nighthaunts. You’ll get all of the paints you need to turn them from plastic models to all-conquering armies as well as a battlefield’s worth of scenery and playing mats for them to fight across.
The collection also includes an exclusive Stormcast Eternals model – the Knight-Incantor Xandria Azurebolt.
Each issue will include detailed step-by-step guides for building and painting your new models, as well as extensive background material that will introduce you to the magical landscapes, bold heroes and great battles of the Mortal Realms.
You’ll also learn the rules of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar game through rules tutorials and battleplans that teach you everything you need to know to conquer the realms.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Mortal Realms will be published by Hachette Partworks in the UK and Salvat in Spain. The first four issues will be available in Warhammer stores across the UK and Spain, and you’ll be able to continue the collection by subscribing.
You’ll get a host of free gifts when you subscribe, including a Citadel modelling kit and much more. There will also be a premium subscription available that provides even more Warhammer goodness.
