Weekly Watchdog: Afghan Girl by Pink Label Studio

Painted this Yesterday. I returned to this for three reasons: my wife works at the Danish Refugee Council and I want to give this to her as a gift. Since the other is from my workshop with Ben Komets, i would not give her that one. Also, i always felt like I had not done Well on the eyes. So I wanted to try that again. Also to make one fully saturated and with a Lot more contrast. On my Wall I have a print, which due to the printer used is saturated and with deep contrasts. So I wanted to try that. Finally I guess I just felt like trying something a bit more rough than usually, and this is painted rather fast and dirty. Just to compare here is Also a picture of both. Huh. Interesting. I left the old version deliberately in the closet for the entire session, so it would not influence the choice og colour and style. Safe to say it hasnt, and although I Can Certainly say, that, for a technical perspective, the old version (Ben and mine) is far superior. But you know what, I love the new one as Well. Fascinating to see how different they are.

It is painted in a fast sketching type og session, with little to no glazing. And obviously it shows. I chose to do a background, to simulate the background from the picture. I even thought about putting in a yellow frame, but i think that would throw the balance. I like the vampire eyes, although probably should change those. It shows not so much in Real life though. Anyways, fun little project to get my joy of painting back.
