Trench Crusade: The Cruciform Order of St George Kickstarter

Hollow Crown Miniatures is a new company, founded by Varus Miniatures (Florian Wortmann) and Infamous JT (Jamie Tranter). Our mission is to produce new, high-quality miniatures available in both physically cast and digital STL formats. We are committed to creating miniatures that inspire both gamers and painters alike, offering all the options required for the tabletop as well as evocative designs for painters to use as their canvas. All of the miniatures in this new range, The Cruciform Order of St George, have been designed and sculpted by Ari Níelsson and are compatible with Trench Crusade.* Together, we bring proven experience in producing both physical and digital miniatures, along with a strong track record of successfully delivering crowdfunded projects.

This Kickstarter aims to produce a new 32mm-scale range of miniatures that combines the aesthetics of medieval English armies with First World War British soldiery, while evoking a grimdark atmosphere. The initial goal is to fund 17 miniatures, all of which have already been designed and sculpted.

The Cruciform Order of St George is available both as high-quality physical resin casts and as pre-supported digital STLs. The physical miniatures are not 3D prints; they are cast resin models produced from production-quality masters, ensuring consistent, high-quality casts with exceptional detail.

The miniatures are accompanied by Ionic Smart Colors paint and weathering sets selected by Rubén Torregrosa (Heresy Brush), printed artwork by Marco Capparoni, and custom dice to accompany your warband on the tabletop. We also have stretch goals planned to develop the Cruciform Order into a comprehensive warband for tabletop skirmishes.

This campaign aims to be as straightforward as possible, with three initial pledge levels — although we may add more as the Kickstarter progresses.

Additional items, such as paints and artwork, can be added to any pledge as add-ons, which are explained later on this page. Add-Ons are added by increasing the amount pledged by the relevant cost of each add-on, for example, if you want to add a pack of Freemen to the resin-cast warband you would pledge a total of £120. £104 for the warband pledge, and £16 for the add-on.

Pledge Levels:

Resin Cast Pick and Mix: Purchase individual physical packs with a Kickstarter discount of more than 8% compared with the RRP. Simply total the cost of the physical packs you would like and pledge for that amount. For example, each infantry pack is priced at £16, so if you want both packs of Freemen, you would pledge £32.

Our physical miniatures are not 3D printed. They are cast resin miniatures, produced in the UK by CMA Creative Solutions.

While 3D printing is a powerful and valuable tool, we have seen multiple Kickstarter projects delayed due to its limitations, or suffer from inconsistent quality during large production runs. At Hollow Crown, our goal is to deliver the highest-quality miniatures possible.

For this reason, we use a professional-grade printer to create our master models, rather than a home printer. These masters are then reproduced through resin casting, allowing us to maintain strict quality control and ensure consistency across every miniature.

The Cruciform Order’s Field-Knights are renowned for the quality of their equipment and training. Their presence alone inspires their comrades to greater acts of bravery.

We are pleased to offer all of the paints and weathering products needed to bring your Cruciform Order of St George miniatures to life on the tabletop. These new sets from Ionic Smart Colors were selected by Rubén Torregrosa in collaboration with Hollow Crown Miniatures and are available as add-ons in this Kickstarter for the very first time. Prices for each set are listed below their image and they can be added to any pledge level.

We have been lucky enough to be joined by the talented, Marco Capparoni, who has produced several pieces of art we are happy to offer as high quality prints. Each print features iconic characters based on Ari’s designs and sculpts and was painted traditionally before being scanned to a high quality and printed with a silk finish.

This add-on includes a single A4 print on 170GSM paper, and 3 x A6 Postcards on 250GSM. All artwork is printed with a silk finish. £15

Fulfilment & Delivery:

Once the Kickstarter is completed, production of physical pledges will begin in earnest, with a projected timeframe for the shipping of physical pledges within six months. CMA Creative Solutions has already been engaged to handle production, the initial 17 figures are already in their possession and approved for casting pending us reaching our target.

Digital pledges within a shorter timeframe. Those pledging for the digital warband will be contacted following the Kickstarter in regards to their pledge manager. We have already test printed the initial 17 sculpts to ensure they will work well, and we will run the same quality checks on any unlocked stretch goals.

Shipping costs will be collected after the Kickstarter. Each backer will receive a code for the Hollow Crown Miniatures website, where they can select the contents of their pledge. The website will then calculate the actual shipping cost, which will be collected at the same time. Pledges can be increased and add-ons added, right up until the point of paying postage.

Pledges made by EU backers will be dispatched from Varus Miniatures in Germany. This means there will be no additional duty or VAT for backers within the EU and EEC – we will have covered all VAT when shipping to Varus in Germany.

All other pledges will be dispatched from the UK. UK backers will likewise not incur any additional VAT or customs charges.

We kindly ask backers in other parts of the world to be aware of any local customs duties or taxes that may apply once items are sent to them. Please note: this includes US tariffs. Pledges destined for addresses outside the EU/EEC will be shipped from the UK. As a small business, we are unable to send items duty paid outside of the UK, EU and EEC.
