The Windrunners are the latest addition to the Chosen of the Spirit Tree. Like leaves carried on a storm, they dance across the battlefield, disrupting enemy back lines, seizing key objectives, and striking where it hurts most.

Fast, elusive, and guided by elemental wind magic, they excel at reaching vulnerable positions with effortless precision.

The Windrunners on the Tabletop

The Windrunners are a highly scenario-focused unit built for early pressure and objective control.

Thanks to Scout (4″), they begin the game already 4″ beyond your deployment zone, immediately threatening key areas. Combined with their „Attuned“ ability granting them an L MOV, they are dangerous scenario runners from round one.

As they approach enemy lines, they can shroud themselves with their essence ability „Camouflage“, granting them „Stealth“.

In melee, they become even more irritating:

• Their passive ability „Duelist“ raises them to a respectable DEF 8 in melee.
• Their reactive Essence ability „Dodge“ makes them even harder to bring down.
• Parry allows them to disengage safely and reposition elsewhere.

If you fail to eliminate them quickly, they simply vanish, only to reappear where you least expect them.

The Game-Changer: Operative

Their defining ability, Operative, allows them to interact with a scenario objective once per activation without spending an action or Essence.

This makes them exceptional at efficient objective play and enables them to easily steal heavily defended Essence interact scenarios.

The Windrunners won’t win a war of attrition, but they will force your opponent to defend their scenario, constantly rethinking positioning and resource allocation.

Synergy Spotlight: First Servant of the Spirit Tree

The First Servant of the Spirit Tree amplifies the Windrunners’ strengths even further.

His Leadership ability, “Like a Leaf in the Wind”, pushes their defensive power to the next level by forcing opponents to reroll dice in hit rolls.

In addition, the Windrunners provide an excellent forward anchor for his active Essence ability „Chi Step“, allowing the First Servant to project influence deep into contested areas of the battlefield.

Together, they form a dynamic control package built for players who value mobility, precision, and scenario dominance.

Release Information

The Windrunners are available for pre-order until the beginning of March.

They will officially release on March 4th, 2026, following their debut at Tactica in Hamburg.

Where others fight for ground, the Windrunners simply claim it first. Darting across the battlefield in blinding bursts of motion, these swift Aiyani weave between enemies, vault over obstacles, and vanish before retaliation can land. Though a „Discord“ unit, their strength lies not in destruction, but in disruption –  snatching objectives from under their opponents’ noses and turning momentum with sheer speed.

Like the wind through the canopy, they are extremely hard to pin down – and by the time you try, the battle has already shifted in their favor.
