Medbury Miniatures: Januar Patreon
Medbury Miniatures starten diesen Monat mit dem ersten Mittelalter Release einer neuen Reihe.
January Historical Release!
so new year new model range! this release is the first in the next wave of dark ages releases! later in the post ill go over what makes this range different to the vendel figures we did before the medievals and what the roadmap looks like. but firstly as usual these figures will be available to download in a handful of days over on MMF.
the goal with this new range is to connect the dots between the vendel range (550AD-750AD) up with the later medievals. so this range will cover. 750-1300 which is a huge stretch of time, so thats saxons/normans/ then early crusades and early medieval. the intial wave of releases will cover the saxon side, and we will work through a couple of packs at a time until we have covered all the units and load outs, so after this you can expect at some stage to see more sword/board spear/shield with no helmets, and then again, with helmets and chainmail, (combined that would give you atleast 36 figures for your shield wall)
so with that in mind, this first batch of figures would make up the basic warriors in your army, basic warriors with shields and spear/handweapons, with poses that work well enough solo based, or multibased if you wanted to pack a dence shield wall. there clothes are all in the same style but slightly different lengths/ different leg wrappings and details and helmets
so how does this range fit in with the vendel figures? for the most part quite well, =the most obvious difference is going to be things like the helmets, the vendel helmets are based on earlier designs and finds primarily in scandinavia not england, in reality theres no more then 12 found and so its possible there is more overlap then im assuming in so far as how i dress these models, but thats how im choosing to dress the figures, for your purpose, you can certainly mix in the archers and skirmishers and some warriors back and forth between the 2 ranges, however, those vendel figures from 2-3 years ago are slightly chunkier then my newer standard, so potentially drop em down to 97% you should be good to scale with supports,
my plan next month was to do some Range troops, before circling back around to heavy armoured infantry, please drop any specific requests in the comments!
January Fantasy Release!
this month we have another round of dwarves! the full set this time, this month i wanted to tick off the last equipment option for the Saphire ridges warriors which was spear/shield, so ive done that! but also i havent really done any dwarven warriors not in the SR style, so ive gone and done 12 warriors like that but ill go over those in a sec, these figures will be available to download by the 5th as usual
so real quickly, 4 more SR dwarves with spear and shield, 3 of these are spears dropped shields forward in more combative poses, and 1 is left at rest, he could also be a banner bearer if you need another pose, and they will slot right in with all the other SR dwarves
ok and onto the new set! these 3 packs of dwarves are intentionally not in the SR style! i did these guys for a few reasons, so for example if you had a Warband of mostly dwarf rangers but wanted some warriors with armour and or shields in there, it dosnt make sence to the use the SR ones, they dont really look the part, also if your wanting to have some warriors who dont represent a kingdom or something, rarther band of warriors or milita from a small village, you need something not uniform, so thats were these guys stemmed from, they have a new set of helmets which are similar to the SR style but flatter at the top, or less detail, theidea being that these are made locally and so differ slightly, (tho a 2 or 3 do have SR helmets) there gear also is a mix of chain, scale, padded and studded coats, these guys could also work well along side the miner set,
im coming to the end of the dwarves i had planned, i do have some more to go like characters for the GA range of dwarves, but otherwise im more or less ready to drop into goblins and give them a good crack,
with that in mind if theres any dwarf units missing, now the time to let me know!

Naja, nicht schlecht, aber im Großen und Ganzen eher unteres Mittelmaß.
Da gibt es reichlich bessere Alternativen.
