Eye of Terror – New rules for Imperial Knights and Adeptus Mechanicus

Take a first look at the new rules for Archmagos Thulia Ghuld, her Hastarii, and the Knight Destrier. Can you hold back the forces of Chaos with these fresh reinforcements?

Thulia Ghuld

As the Archmagos Terminus of Mars and a veteran of the Ordo Reductor, Thulia Ghuldis all about one thing: destruction. Her heavily augmented body is as durable as that of the legendary Belisarius Cawl, and her weapons can easily punch holes in outrageously tough heretics.

The Rod of the War Forge isn’t just a powerful melee weapon, either – it also serves as a symbol of her absolute authority over the Skitarii legions, and can buff them with one of three useful effects. This makes her the perfect leader for a force with loads of Rangers, Vanguard, and Hastarii, while the Mechanicus Bodyguard ability means it’s safe to throw her right into the thick of things without worrying about being picked off by your enemy’s big guns.

Hastarii

The heavily armed and armoured Hastarii that Ghuld leads in the defense of forge world Agripinaa are a much-needed fire support unit for the Skitarii legions, able to dish out loads of damage at range while absorbing return fire. They can be fielded as one of two units – Exterminators or Fusiliers – with the former excelling at dispatching infantry while the latter focuses on blasting vehicles and monsters to pieces.

A 3+ armour save, 5+ invulnerable save, and 2 Wound statline makes these cyborg gunners surprisingly tough, especially when holed up in dense terrain that the larger Adeptus Mechanicus vehicles struggle to move around in. They can also assist each other in a pinch, as the Exterminators carry a shoulder-mounted arc blaster with[ANTI-VEHICLE 4+] while Fusiliers pack a phosphor blaster that burns through cover.

Knight Destrier

While the Adeptus Mechanicus focuses on a solid defensive line, the nimble Bellatus-class Imperial Knights charge around the flanks looking for glorious targets to skewer. Knights Destrier are as fast as Armigers, and their Ram Jets give them an extra burst of speed on top of their impressive pace.

These Knights have a flexible arsenal, coming armed with a chastiser gatling cannon and frag bombard as standard, and one or both of these devastating ranged weapons can be swapped for a melee weapon. Better still, springing for the full throttle melee approach with both the thundershock spear and Bellatus reaper chainsword gives you extra close combat attacks, so the Destrier excels no matter what range you want to engage your enemies at.

Thulia Ghul, the Hastarii, and the Knight Destrier are all up for pre-order soon, along with the Eye of Terror – Reign of Iron expansion and Kravek Morne’s Chaos reinforcements.
