We’ve gone back to our roots with April’s collection of Hanzaki from Norinaga’s faction of the Pearl. The secret pearl farms are heavily guarded, as top quality pearls can be worth as much as a kingdom. Each pearl is infused with condensed Qi, making each a powerful magical item that can’t be replicated. Because of this, Norinaga’s forces are extremely experienced fighters with more organization than other Hanzaki factions – they’re capable of repelling both armies and thieves, kings and rogues (and other Ryujin, of course). This capability is personified in the three generals, Hayanami, Hanamori, and Hajiroku, who each bring their unique skills to the table. Of course, no general is effective without footsoldiers like the Heishi, special operatives like Hanegiri, a ninja defector from another faction, or giant snapping turtle command centers!

This month’s fantastic base and terrain pack was sculpted by Calrais, with concepts by Paul Ferret (who also does concepts for our characters). Our throwback bonus this month includes Hanabi, Hanzaki Firebreather, Izdara, Mazigh Raider, and the June 2022 Bases and Terrain Pack.

Conflux Creatures has been busily banging away at the stats, and is now up to February March 2026! I’m still figuring out the cobramode website to add the lore and stats so that you can find it by collection, but for now you can grab all of the newer stats from this directory.

Hayanami, Hanzaki Tidal Mage

One of the three great generals in the employ of Norinaga of the Pearl, Hayanami is a mage specializing in ocean magic. Bolstering her trident attacks with spells, she calls on the power of the salt sea that borders and mixes with the waters of Norinaga’s domain. The ocean’s power can be as unpredictable as the ocean itself, however, and unwitting passengers are not uncommon when summoning the waters.

Hamanori, Hanzaki Warrior

A peerless warrior specializing in the naginata, Hamanori is the second of Norinaga’s great generals. She is known as the Flower General, both for her floral emblem helmet, and for the blood red “blossoms” she leaves behind in her wake, a poetic nod to the carnage she usually wreaks on the battlefield. Her heavy armor leaves her less mobile than other Hanzaki, but she makes up for it with grace and skill.

Hanzaki Heishi

Professional foot soldiers of the Pearl, the Heishi are more skilled than general Ashigaru. Hanzaki are not generally known for their organizational skills (to put it lightly), but the Heishi are the exception to the rule. Their strength is fighting in formations, and they drill together in teams of three in order to efficiently cover each other’s weaknesses. Though individually the Heishi may not be as strong as other warriors, a group of them can be quite formidable.

Hajiroku, Hanzaki General

The third of the three great generals, Hajiroku is the master tactician, the choreographer of the dance. Because of this, he rides on the back of an Aragame snapping turtle to get a higher vantage point. His stalwart personal attendants carry his standard and also help to protect his named pearl, Shingan no Tama, the Orb of the Divine Eye. This pearl is the counterpart to Norinaga’s Ido no Uso, the Well of Lies, and can reveal truths even in the depths of illusion. Using the power of the pearl, Hajiroku can discover and predict enemy movements without risking his scouts, although the cost of using it can be high.

Hanegiri, Hazaki Ninja (Kunai & Ninjato)

Light as a feather, Hanegiri (feather-cutter) is a nimble assassin who uses both throwing knives and a short sword. He is known for his ability to strike so swiftly, his opponents don’t even realize they’ve been cut until it’s too late. The combination of close and medium range attacks make him a difficult enemy to predict, especially combined with his stealth abilities. A former Ninja of Smoke under Katsuhito, he defected after being left for dead on a mission gone bad.
