This week the Iron Kingdoms are bristling with activity. New tales of Old Umbrey stir in the Warmachine app, Dark Operations unleash Dominated Stormblades, the Cryx Hellraker claws at the gates of pre-order, and the new P3 paints get their trial by brush.

Enter the bear pit: Kapitan Kazimir Morozov
This week’s Heroes and Villains entry pulls a new face straight out of the Umbrean borderlands.
Meet Kapitan Kazimir Morozov, wielding a railman’s maul and the fury of the Wurm, Kapitan Kazimir Morozov emerges with a patriot’s heart and a beast’s fury.
“Passing from fields of gold to fields of red, Kazimir Morozov cultivates a Khador free from those who would see it falter. A patriot and a true believer, Kazimir would sacrifice anything to see the Motherland prosper, even his own humanity. His mighty maul can easily crush an average foe, but when truly pressed, Kazimir can seize upon the essence of the Devourer Wurm inside of him and become an unstoppable avatar of slaughter.
Wary of the power at his disposal and knowing all too well that it could be regarded as much a curse as it is a boon, Kazimir is unlike others who draw too greedily from the Devourer Wurm’s power. He bends his arcane talent as a warlock into withstanding this primal lure, aware that he can only effectively serve Khador and overcome those that threaten her as long as he retains the logical mind of a man—even if his body has become that of a frenzied beast.”

Secrets of the Old Witch
Also new in the app this week is the Old Umbrey Compendium. Become one with Old Umbrey, its people, and their ties to Zevanna Agha, the Old Witch herself.
“On the outskirts of Umbrey, sheltered within the foothills and surrounded by dense forests, lies Old Korska, once Khador’s capital but now reduced to forsaken ruins. It is a remote and lonely place, haunted by the ghosts of the past; it is a place that even the most informed historian might say has long been abandoned by the living.
Yet that statement could not be further from the truth, for it is here that the followers of the Old Witch, Zevanna Agha, lurk—and they have long been readying themselves for a time like the one that is upon the Iron Kingdoms now.
Old Korska fell to the Orgoth centuries ago in the first incursion, but in the time since, the Old Witch has continued to gather those who have not abandoned the old traditions to its shattered under-halls. For years, the Old Witch’s followers have carefully watched and subtly reinforced folktales of the horrors within the depths of Old Korska in order to frighten away the curious.
Now, with the returned threat of the Orgoth upon the Iron Kingdoms, that time is past. The armies of Old Umbrey march forth, wearing armor festooned with bones, furs, and fetishes and with warpaint daubed across their skin. They control a menagerie of slavering beasts that churn the earth beneath them while clouds of cawing carrion birds swarm above. Yet these people are no savages. Unlike the tribal Tharn that permeate the darker places of the wilderness, the Umbreans bear modern weaponry and move with an ordered discipline that contrasts their adopted primal manner.
When the Orgoth finally come to the borders of these lands in their march of conquest, they shall find that the rural forces of Khador will not fall so easily. Bolstering their faith with the untamed primordial essence of the ancient god of beasts, the Umbreans can match even the Orgoth’s ruthless barbarity with blade, tooth, and claw.”

Lock & Load at Warfaire Weekend
The beating heart of Warmachine organised play is back. This November, Lock & Load lands at Warfaire Weekend in St. Louis from November 14-16 2025.
Across three days, the halls will be buzzing with matched play, P3 painting showcases, and narrative games where stories unfold alongside dice rolls. It’s not just about the battles. Lock & Load has always been about meeting fellow players, swapping lists, and catching up with friends you may only see once a year.

The Welsh Masters at Firestorm Games
Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond, one of the UK’s most beloved Warmachine events is calling. The Welsh Masters returns to Firestorm Games in Cardiff on September 20, bringing with it a weekend that’s as much about community as it is throwing down.
The Masters have a reputation for friendly games, with players travelling from across the UK (and further afield) to throw dice, show off their armies, win great prizes, and catch up over a pint.
Tickets are live now at The Battlefields. The Welsh Masters is an Iron Gauntlet qualifier, so get those army lists polished and get qualified for the Iron Gauntlet.
