Twisted: Update
Es gibt auf Facebook ein neues Update zu Twisted.
Greetings from The Engine,
The Engine has informed me that it is on its own schedule and will not be privy to answering my questions until it is ready to. Now, on my end, apologies for the delay in updates, it’s not that we haven’t been working hard to get things in order, it’s that I’m terrible at updates and social media…plus a random trip back home to the west coast to visit some family and celebrate a graduation for myself, a series of TKD tourneys (including nationals this weekend) for Sam, daughter and his team, he’s an instructor/owner of a studio, and not least, poor Pete covering at the office for an open position or two, it’s been a busy early summer for the DG squad. So, what’s new? I’m sure you’re all clamoring for news on a crowdfunding campaign huh? Well, we’ve settled on Gamefound after having a great meeting with their team at AdeptiCon along with spending some time with their tools. It’s on the horizon, there’s a few things to finish up, but there’s quite a bit coming. So, let’s crack out a small list, shall we.I believe I have stated before that the website is getting an update and redesign. As I’m not a web developer, I have hit my wall and have recruited someone to help finish it. I am working to get this done before the launch of the crowdfunding campaign…there needs to be a reference point to refer to in my mind. I am also setting up a mailing list that is not mailchimp, that thing isn’t what it used to be when I was using it at CMON, so expect to see a follow up with information on how to sign up for that in a separate post.I’m sure you’re all anxious to hear about the crowdfunding campaign and when to expect it. I’d love to give you all an exact date today, but until the website update is completed, I don’t want to commit in case there’s a slip, but I expect it to be before the end of the summer. The initial plan was for June and I have no actual excuses, just that I failed to get all the things in place that I want to before launching it.Now, I do know that I’ve already discussed the book a couple of times, a massive coffee table style tomb with hundreds of pages, an update to the rules and new stuff…well what kind of new stuff right? To start, we’ll be revisiting all of the existing books, reviewing, correcting (anything that is out of sorts) and compiling them into the first third or so of the book, with a rules update, including new rules for ‘Companies’, a thematic group inside a Faction, new campaign rules and some other things we’ll share later, new stories/fluff, new Companies for existing factions, a new Faction or two and a Limited Edition tag. The rules and cards will also always be available online for free download…and no, I have not come up with a new card design yet, but once I get a couple of layout options I like in the works, I’ll get the community involved to give your thoughts before settling on the final design. And as I’ve said, the book will be a much delayed print publication as it’s going to take a ton of work to get it over the finish line (expect a year).I can already hear the next question; ‘Oz, what’s going to be in the campaign?’ Well Twisted Second Edition (T2E) is going to get broken down into a number of small easy to ship campaigns. As fulfillment will sit on me personally for all of NA, I am working on making sure that the ROW (rest of world) has fulfillment managed as locally as possible, so as not to incur huge shipping costs, but I still need to finalize costs with my EU and AU partners on this. Now, what I’ve done to layout the campaign is to make them a bit of an episodic type release, with the campaign being set up to follow the storyline as it moves forward. Picking up where Seb and Pete left off, the Dickensians will be seeing a new company in The Orphanage, and The Servants of the Engine getting The Inquisition. I’ve added a new Faction in the Queen’s Court and will be unleashing Mercenaries into the mix with The Journeymen. Following this campaign, we’ll see what Carter and Indigo are up to along with some new surprises for the Guild of Harmony, but that’s a ways out still…after that we’ll be catching up with Ma Rainey as we cross the pond. We’ll also see 75mm options for some of your favorite characters from Journeyman Miniatures as well as acrylic token sets from Warsen.al.Moving on to storyline and fluff, Sam and I have been plotting, discussing and writing for months. The book will have three acts and a climax (unless we change it again), with an expected 30 different stories across them. We also have six prelude stories either in the works or complete that will go up in the Lore section of the new website and sent out via mailing list prior to launch of the crowdfunding campaign.I think that covers all the things I wanted to share this time, but one last thing…after a little over ten years, I’ve picked up a pencil and photoshop again to start back in on concept and design art, here’s a piece I completed last week for a new set of models to come:
