Steamforged Games: Rivet Wars – Nemoans Vorschau

Steamforged Games zeigen eine Vorschau auf die Nemoans Erweiterung für Rivet Wars Reloaded.

Meet the Nemoans — They Came From Below!

If you want to win against the Nemoans, you’re going to need intel. Here’s what our scouts have uncovered so far.

The newest faction to the Rivetverse, the Nemoans have a bad habit of bursting from the ground without any warning and, if we don’t react fast enough, overwhelming defensive positions!

On the plus side, there don’t seem to be quite as many of them as there are of us. But considering those transport-looking “Nautiloid” things have been conveniently dropping troops exactly where they’re needed, maybe they don’t need numbers. Especially not with the element of surprise on their side.

Hoplite Infantry

The Nemoan equivalent of the Rifleman or Panzerfaust is called a ‘Hoplite’.

Hoplites are well trained and armed with coilguns. These weapons hit several magnitudes harder than anything we’ve got that isn’t mounted on a mech. We’ve even had reports of them damaging superheavy tanks.

They’re also clearly well trained and disciplined. And the accuracy and rate of fire of their firearms is exceptional.

Hoplites make up the backbone of any Nemoan strike force, so expect to see them often.

‘Elite’ Faction

In most cases, Nemoan units are more expensive in deployment and rivet points than their Allied and Blight counterparts.

That said, their advanced technology and unusual battlefield tactics give them an edge. They’re strong, versatile, and you’ll often find fewer of them on the field.

Unit-wise, it looks like they’ve got something close to the Allied Rocket Cycles and Blight Monowheels. They call it the Cerberus Striker.

Looks like a lot of the Nemoans can attack more than once a turn, too, most likely due to those mag weapons they’re touting!

Nautilus Tank

This was the first Nemoan unit we ever saw. Before we knew what hit us we were knee deep in dirt and crossfire.

From what we can gather, the Nautilus seems to be the Nemoan equivalent of a superheavy tank. It certainly gives the Double Play and Gryphon’s Hammer a run for their money.

These things can burrow under the battlefield and emerge somewhere else entirely.

The giant drill on the front of it seems to be both its burrowing method and its primary weapon.

Hybrid Air Units

They do have air units, but those units don’t work the way we’re used to.

Our best guess is because they came from what we’re now fairly confident is a hollow earth situation, flight tech is just as important to the Nemoans as it is to us. But their lack of limitless sky space means they’ve had to adapt.

Instead of sustained flight, the Nemoans favour jetpacks and thrusters for short boosts. This causes their air units to ‘hop’ or ‘jump’ over ground units before touching back down.

For their lighter airborne units, this gives them an advantage. The “Icarus Jump” infantry can pass over enemy units while still being able to take and hold strategic objectives when they land.

Their air mechs operate in much the same way, jumping over enemy units to land precisely where they need to be rather than being blocked in by enemy units.

Another advantage of Nemoan flight tech is that it can make their movements erratic and unpredictable. They don’t move like planes or gyrocopters. In short, they’re hard to shoot at.

Most Nemoan airborne units have bolster defence to represent this unpredictable movement. When attacked by enemy units, they’ll roll at least 1 die fewer for each attack. Lucky for us, bolster defence can’t reduce the number of dice in an attack to 0 dice, so it never fully stops an attack from being rolled.

Speaking of flight tech, there’s one big unit you’ll want to watch out for. They call it the “Helios Air Mech”. When it lands, it’ll often strike the ground with its drill arm causing a shower of dust that hides it, and units around it, from our attacks.

That concludes our briefing on the Nemoans expansion. This new faction is certainly a worthy opponent for any Allied or Blight forces! Will you take on the Nemoans? Or maybe you’ll choose to secure these impressive troops for yourself.

Important note: You’ll need the Rivet Wars core game to play this Nemoans expansion.
