In the Starcide Promethean Crusade game, players begin by effortlessly assembling their fleets, selecting various units and fleet upgrades. With a balance of powerful ships and strategic decisions, marked on the command dials, they are fighting over galactic domination. Combat isn’t just about raw strength—it’s about timing and control, as players decide what they want to use each turn with a variety of unique actions. High-powered units may be tempting, but managing them well is vital, as they can dominate the battlefield—or fall short if handled incorrectly. Each ship is assigned its own command dial, which determines its actions during a round. Selecting the appropriate slot on the dial sets key parameters such as the ship’s Initiative, the number of available Command Points, the amount of Chronoshards to be extracted, and any available Special Actions.
A fleet is more than just massive capital ships — it also includes smaller support units like fighters, bombers, and repair drones. These can be commanded during battle in coordinated maneuvers alongside their mothership, offering tactical flexibility and strategic depth. Units vary in their roles — Light units are fast and agile, Medium units are versatile, and Heavy units pack a punch but are harder to handle.
The battlefield itself adds complexity— jump points are scattered across the map, these points are essential for unit deployment but are limited in availability, requiring players to think tactically not only about their own positioning but also about denying their opponent access to key locations. On the battlefield fleets will also encounter numerous asteroid fields that can hinder line of fire or provide valuable cover. Some factions will have the ability to manipulate these obstacles using advanced technology or various flux powers, adjusting the terrain to their tactical advantage.
Successfully mastering fleet maneuvers, timing, and deployment can lead to victory, where every move counts and each decision could be the difference between domination and defeat.
