Customizable Imperial Officer & Agent
“You Rebel Scum!”
-Lieutenant Renz
Trained by the finest academies and armed with the best weapons and equipment, Imperial Officers and Imperial Agents represent the iron will of the Empire all over the galaxy. Schooled in potent forms of warfare, they must equip a Doctrine upgrade card, representing their specialized training. Imperial Officers are Commanders in a Legion army, while Agents are Operatives, lending their skill wherever it is needed most on the battlefield. A rousing presence, the Officer provides direction, purpose, and motivation to their soldiers. The Imperial Agent, on the other hand, is more of a direct support option, with unique abilities to turn the tide of battle while relentlessly attacking weak points for your advantage. Both units are highly customizable force multipliers, eager to be used in the fight against the Rebellion. Read on to see how they can ensure a quick Imperial victory in your games of Star WarsTM: Legion.
Imperial Officers and Imperial Agents have access to a brand new type of upgrade: Doctrines. These represent specialized training and leadership brought directly to the battlefield. The first of these is Academy Trained, which increases the Imperial Officers Courage by 1, as well as adding Exemplar, Inspire 1, and Strategize 1. This Doctrine is perfect for the officer who provides pinpoint instruction from a safe position. Tip of the Spear, on the other hand, instead adds Aid: Imperial Trooper Unit, Direct: Corps Trooper Unit, and Tactical 1 to any Imperial Officer or Agent. Additionally, when this unit is Issued an Order, an allied unit with range 1 may remove up to 1 Suppression token.
For a leader who is always ready for the next operation, Defend in Depth provides a more measured approach to warfare. During the End Phase, you choose 1 allied Trooper with range 1 of this unit. The chosen unit does not remove 1 aim token. The Imperial Agent or Officer specializing in this Doctrine also gains Aid: Emplacement Trooper, Prepared Position, and Spotter 1. Finally, the Imperial Agent may use their power and status to directly join the battle as a Platoon Commander. This gives the Agent Surge to Crit, and Surge to Block and Sharpshooter 1. It also allows you to pick 1 allied Corps Trooper unit and give them Retinue: Imperial Agent. Combine this with a unit of Imperial Riot Troopers to ensure the will of the Emperor is carried out against any who dare stand against the Empire!
While knowledge and tactics are powerful weapons, the Empire’s finest always bring the best into battle to ensure victory. The first of these new upgrades is Combat Armor, which upgrades an Imperial Agent’s or Officer’s defense dice to Red. If you want to activate your forces at a critical moment, a Command and Control Uplink may be needed. This Gear Upgrade can be expended to treat your revealed Command Card as 1 pip lower, potentially stealing the initiative from your opponent. Meanwhile, A Seeker Droid is a perfect addition to an Imperial Officer or Agent who wants to support their troopers. These useful droid companions come with Observe 1 to enable attacks against an enemy and Recharge 1 and Shielded 1 to protect themselves. Pair this upgrade with an Imperial Officer who has the Defend in Depth Doctrine equipped to create a Commander who is comfortable providing their troopers with constant assistance and tactical options.
Several new Armament Upgrades can also be added to increase the offensive potency of an Imperial Agent or an Imperial Officer. A Heavy Blaster Pistol upgrades their blaster to Red Dice, as well as Lethal 1 and Long Shot. Additionally, it gives the unit Sharpshooter 1 and Target 1. The next two Armaments give Imperial Agents and Imperial Officers an edge in hand-to-hand combat. The Z-6 Riot Baton gives a unit that equips it Immune: Melee Pierce and the weapon itself has Suppressive. A standard Stun Baton adds Demoralize 1 and locks its targets in place with Immobilize 1.
These units also bring two new Command Cards to pacify Rebel forces in your games of Star Wars: Legion. Inexorable Advance is a 3-Pip card, which issues orders to Three Corps Trooper units. When a unit is issued an Order with this card, its Ranged weapons gain Suppressive until the end of the Round. Additionally, when an enemy unit Panics this Round, an allied Corps unit may make a Speed-1 Move. This allows Imperial armies to pin down vulnerable targets while advancing to capture key objectives. When leadership is needed at the battle’s most critical points, a Fearsome Oration can focus the Empire’s soldiers to a definitive victory. This allows an Imperial Agent to issue an order with this card to gain Demoralize 2 and Inspire 2 until the end of the Round. This Command Card combines particularly well with the Stun Baton, delivering a frightening strike into the hearts of your foes!
