Our Third Weekend Teaser for August… The 75mm Pack Howitzer M1, redesignated as the M116 in 1962, was an artillery piece used by the US, designed for mobility across difficult terrain by allowing the gun and carriage to be disassembled into several parts for transport by pack animals. It saw combat during WW2, primarily with US Army Airborne units and the US Marine Corps, and was also supplied to its allies, with a total of 4,939 units produced between 1940 and 1944.
