Another preview on the Baden troops!

Today I finished a Hussar officer, probably one of the most extravagant figures I’ve ever made. These Badeners really knew how to dress well for battle.

The Baden hussars saw action throughout the Napoleonic Wars. In 1809, they fought in Vorarlberg to suppress the uprisings that broke out there at the same time and in connection with the Tyrolean rebellion.

As in Tyrol, the Vorarlbergers were initially quite successful against the troops of France’s allies, but had to give up after the Battle of Wagram.

Baden actually sent a considerable number of troops to Vorarlberg, and interestingly, some of the best contemporary sources for Baden uniforms come from paintings of that campaign.
