NEW! Vendéens and Chouans 1793-99

These were French counter-revolutionaries who rose up in 1793 in the coastal regions of south of the Loire (‘Vendéens’ or ‘Vendeans’) and North of the Loire (‘Chouans’). The fighting was bloody, the first part of year going to the counter-revolutionaries but after reinforcements from the Army of Mainz the insurrection was crushed by the Republic. Further, smaller, uprisings occurred in 1795,1799, 1815 and 1832.
