Mortal Gods – Looking Ahead – Cards

An update on cards from Richard Carlisle (14th July 2025)

Hello warriors,
We recently shared that Mortal Gods is heading toward a Version 2, not a full overhaul, but a refresh to help the game grow and stay accessible. As part of the feedback, many of you asked about card reprints, and we wanted to clarify.

As a small manufacturing team, and with most of the writing and development happening through a dedicated pair of chaps (Andy & George) who fit what they can in around day jobs, progress towards a v2 solution will take some time.
As some card sets are out of stock or running low now, we need to plan how to bring them back and/or alternative ways to present them.

As an interim measure, we’re exploring alternatives to reprinting, including blank roster sheets and print-at-home options such as lists, to make things more flexible and sustainable moving forward.

Your cards still work – Everything in your collection will still be valid.

PDF Downloads. We’ve put together the first set that includes the basic cards from the original starter set, all rolled into one.
Following shortly will be the Athenian and Spartan decks.

We’ll gather feedback and start on the next lists shortly, including Mythic. With these rolling out, we can turn our focus on to the tweaks for V2

Part of the V2 plan is also to include new factions and models. You’ve already begun to give us feedback on these. Please keep exploring options and letting us know in the Mortal Gods Facebook group, and we’ll keep compiling the list.

FAQ

Will my current cards still work in V2?

Yes! We have no plans to invalidate existing cards. V2 is about refining, not replacing, so your current collection will still be usable. Any changes will be small and focused on improving clarity and balance, not forcing you to start over.

Will there be a new rulebook?

We’re planning to update the rulebook with minor tweaks and clarifications, but not a complete rewrite. If anything changes, we’ll make sure it’s clear what’s new and keep it accessible for existing players.

Where can I get cards?

For now, we are making out-of-stock cards available via PDF-style lists, find them in the Mortal Gods Essentials collection HERE

How can I help?

The best way to support right now is to keep playing, sharing the game, and letting us know what’s working (or not). We really value your feedback; it’s a big part of how we shape what’s next for Mortal Gods.
