Medbury Miniatures: Juli Patreon
Im Juli haben Medbury Miniatures wieder ein STL-Paket für Patreons zusammengestellt.
Fantasy
Halfway through the year and just so happens to also be the change of theme for our fantasy releases! Today I’ve got the preview for the July fantasy releases and this next block we are onto dwarves! This first round of figures cover some characters & command figures and some warriors to go with them, the next month August will cover the basic troops before moving onto rangers, miners and so on. These figures will be available through tribes & Patreon from the 5th of july.
The first 2 kits to cover this month are the new personalities, the dwarven lords and king kit, these models are intended to give you a couple of different options to lead warbands or go onto multibase command stands, the New dwarf King is based on the current dwarf king model we have in metal(will be STL in the coming months) and in our head canon is his father, so they have the same crown and axe with similar clothing but is more up armoured with a wide face mask, and an alternate arm option for a hammer, with him is a Figure named Wodin, he is dressed akin to the Warriors coming next month and is a older veteran whos found himself as a king’s advisor, his model is supplied as a STL with and without the spear so you can use the 1mm Wire rods if you prefer.
The next kit is a new Banner bearer and in place of a hornblower, a bagpiper, these new 2 models aren’t equipped with shields like the prior 2 i have, giving you both an alternate sculpt and more WYSIWYG options for gaming, the flag is provided as a stl with the pole attached as well as a empty flag for a 1mm wire rod
The 3rd kit to talk about are the new Hearthguard, for me these are the spiritual successors to the old Gemwardens i had made in early 2022, design wise they are not very similar beyond the gems on there armour, the inspiration for the helmets on these models will be obvious if your familiar with the vendel range, this and there armour are tied closely to their kings and more or less modelled on his likeness
The last kit are the roadwardens, these are 4 dwarf rangers who from a distance would appear as just regular unassuming dwarf travellers, but once you get close and see under their hoods the helmets and mail under there tunic would see they are ready to defend themselves, they are all equipped with dual axes and a different travel kit on their backs
Tomorrow morning i’ll have the post for the historical releases, this months historicals are a unit of 12 medieval hand gunners for early 1400s,
Historisch
There’s some pretty heavy storms in NSW this afternoon so we had a couple of blackouts which obviously made finishing the renders and writing this post quite tedious, but they have subsided for the moment, this is the preview for the July Historical Release, this is a set people have been asking for since we went back to the medievals, and that’s medieval Hand gunners. I hadn’t rushed to do any because they were not suitable for early 100YW which was what we had been covering, but there is a unit in a lot of wargames rulesets where people have been using our figures for their armies and wanted a matching set.
These figures will be available to download as STL’s on the 5th of the month as per usual, we intend to get these up physically as well, i haven’t been able to do much printing over the last 2 months, but thats resolved now and i’m working on getting last months and these on the go asap
Because these figures were going to match the general mid 14th century models, the hand cannons on these figures needed to be based on the earliest versions I could find to make some sense. which were basically timber poles with metal barrels, there are a couple of visual depictions from 1405-1430ish in manuscripts, and some surviving examples from the late 1300s like the tannenberg handgun and Mörkö gun, there are later versions with more parts to them which i’m sure we will cover down the line, but these ones i wanted to be as basic as possible so they were more believable in the context of the armies they are going into
Of the 12 figures in this set, 10 of them have hand cannons and 2 are just there to light the powder, you’ll see on the group shot an example of the model lighting the powder in the others gun, were as other figures are lighting their own, they are split up into 2 packs by armour heavy & Light.
