Halflings – Ej Squadron
Fast and agile, and equipped with bombs and other weapons, Ej Grenadiers can strike an enemy from the flank or rear and turn the tide of a battle in moments. The daring (some might say foolhardy) volunteers who fly in these contraptions are the idols of the halfling youth. Along with the flying machines the Ej halflings have built, there are also the injured drakons they have nursed back to health or repaired with mechanical wings. There are only a handful of them, but they are able to assist the airships in scouting and patrolling.
Halflings – War Engines
The halflings’ affinity for tinkering has allowed them to build a number of powerful war machines. The most basic are multi-barreled volley guns which are short-ranged, but very deadly against massed targets, or howitzers that can lob explosive bombs for long distances. Other untried, but potentially powerful, wepaons are the Swamp Belchers. These are drakons which have undergone a strange metamorphosis, due to a diet of swamp fungus. They can no longer fly, and their body chemistry changes such that a fire permanently smoulders in their bellies and they become capable of volatile flame projection from their altered digestive systems.
Halflings – Forest Troll Gunners & Sergeant
Soon after settling in Ej, the halflings befriended the forest trolls who live in the Forest of Vieshlar. While not naturally aggressive, the trolls do love a good fight. Armed with massive clubs and very hard to kill, the trolls are the ideal assault troops, able to smash through enemy lines like a battering ram. Some trolls have consented to allow halflings to ride on their shoulders and crew a small swivel gun to give them some firepower. These guns have been designed and tuned by Ej’s Gunnery Sergeants, each one a keen inventor and marksman, eager to test their latest prototypes on the battlefield.
Halflings – Hero Pack
No army is much use without good leaders. The Halflings of the north have sent their veteran sergeants and muster captains to train the soldiers of Ej. Working alongside the talented engineers for which the tinkerer’s city is famed and the magical saucerors wielding the arcane art of Gastromancy, in every village and town of Ej, the people are preparing. Every village green is now a drill field, and great musters are being held monthly to give larger formations the chance to manoeuvre and engage in mock combats.
Muster Captain on Winged Aralez
Muster Captains lead the main command structures when the halflings march to war. Once the army engages, keeping the halfling battle lines under control in the face of their anger and desire for relentless revenge can be a daunting and sometimes hopeless task.
Trident Realm of Neritica – Trident King
The Trident Kings tower over their subjects, passing judgement from their thrones on all within their domain. The very seas roll with unforeseen tides when one of these huge monarchs rouses itself to battle, with storms whipping themselves into frenzy at the mere suggestion of their passing. Only three of these mighty beings are known to exist at this time, one for each of the great kingdoms.
Trident Realm – Kraken
The terrifying monster known as the Kraken forms the basis of many myths and legends that strike fear into the seafaring folk of all of the races of the world. When disturbed and angered, the biggest specimens can wrap themselves around the hull of even the largest warships and crush them into nothing but matchwood and flotsam.
Trident Realm – Coral Giant
This harnessing of the sea’s elemental power can sometimes result in the creation of a truly terrible being – the coral giant. Knitted together from the living creatures of the sea, these massive beasts drag themselves to the shore, gathering strength and regenerating even the most grievous wounds as they fight. Such an embodiment of nature’s wrath has rarely been seen on Pannithor, but typifies the ferocity and resolve of the Neriticans.
Trident Realm – War Engines
Ofttimes, the enemy will field a creature or engine of war that needs to be brought down efficiently. Originally designed to stave off the biggest ocean wyrms, the Leviathan’s Bane is effective against any land creature. The Riverguard have since evolved a similar weapon of their own, mounted on the back of a fearsome Dambuster for exceptional mobility.
So, will you be invading the Vieshlar Coast with the mighty Xirkaali Empire? Or defending it with the ingenious Halflings or the mysterious Trident Realm?
The invasion is upon us – let battle commence.
