Step into the daily existence of this relentless machine:

Autonomous thoughts were forbidden. Such was The Brain’s decree. Yet the reality of complex cognitive processes was inherently tied to their autonomy. Carmin Oni tilted his cyclopean head. A tiny butterfly had landed on his metallic forearm. The combat filters analyzed the creature’s potential and deemed it harmless. Still, Carmin Oni’s memory archives surfaced a scientific article precisely detailing the effects of a butterfly’s wingbeat on a distant climate. The uncertainty of chaos—a concept of high potential.

Tomoe triggered an alarm. Flyer One had detected nearby human biological activity. Without breaking his gaze from the innocent storm-bringer, Carmin Oni unsheathed the long tungsten blade he carried. His mechanical grace ensured only the essential components moved during the motion. Carmin Oni shared the senses of the robotic grid that linked all his mechanical companions, all the while continuing to contemplate the butterfly resting on his arm. The fight would come soon enough.
