This month marks our 69th (heh) collection, and we’re so thankful for the support of all our wonderful subscribers and fans! Without you, we truly could never have made so many collections full of our strange and wonderful ideas. Even though the 3d printed minis space has grown so much since we started, I don’t think anyone else makes minis quite like Erin’s. And it’s because of you all that we’ve had the freedom to be as out-there and creative as we want. Please keep commenting, posting your prints and paints, and showing off your awesome projects. Every single one is exciting for us, no matter the level – it’s just so cool to see people getting inspired to create with the sculpts!

It’s been awhile since we visited the Kutugha Steppe, the arid grasslands and foothills where the Goksagu, Ariche, and Totapari roam. The Totapari goat-centaurs are allies of the Ariche reindeer folk, both sharing a nomadic lifestyle and a deep appreciation for nature and mother earth. Totapari are small and nimble, relying on their speed and numbers to overwhelm enemies while mages cast elemental spells. Outriders like Khotaryn, Dorchin, and Tashkai are essential for scouting, as wayfinders like Morukai, Totapari Mage, listen to the voices of the earth to determine their path. We’ve also introduced some tapir-based lifeforms, including the Gurak War Tapirs, and Duargen, Gurakhun Warrior. Some might question the battle-readiness of tapirs, but that would be a mistake…

Our fantastic bases and terrain were sculpted by Calrais, with concept art by Paul Ferret. Paul also had some fantastic concepts for the characters this month, which I have added into the teaser posts (scroll through our previous posts to see them). The throwback poll was incredibly close, as there were so many great options to choose from. But we settled on this grouping, which has several of our fan favorites (Dinovians, Hikiga, and Daitengu).

As always, you can read more about the lore of the Kutugha Steppe in our CobraCompendium: https://bit.ly/3om6snO

This month’s specific lore below:

Khotaryn, Dorchin, and Tashkai – Totapari Outriders

This small scouting party of three are sent out to check the surroundings of the warband before advancing. The nomadic Totapari are often on the move, and their outriders are an essential part of each band. Khotaryn carries the horn to alert the main herd to threats, Tashkai is a skilled archer who can shoot accurately from 300 paces even while galloping, and Dorchin is a melee dual wielder of axes, who protects her companions from close-up combatants. Despite their relatively short legs, all of them are swift and sure-footed runners who would be difficult to catch on rocky or uneven terrain.

Morukai – Totapari Mage

As steppe nomads, the Totapari have a deep connection with the earth and sky. Like their allies, the Ariche, their magic reflects this connection. Morukai is one of the many mages of earth who exist amongst the Steppe folk, serving as a wayfinder by listening to the stones as a means to determine where and when they should move. A steady and experienced presence, many of the Totapari look up to her as a leader. Though not the most powerful mage in her clan, her calm, self-possessed attitude makes her stand out among hot-headed peers.

Duargen – Gurakhun Warrior

The Gurakhun are giant tapir folk who live on the steppe alongside the Totapari. The lumbering, strong Gurakhun complement the fast and nimble goat-centaurs’ talents well – heavy hitters with thick hides, their slower movements belie their immense strength. Due to their large size, they have high caloric needs and have to eat constantly. Duargen often carries a roasted leg of trogon with him as he travels, and has been interested in different methods of cooking and seasoning his on-the-go snacks.

Gurak War Tapirs

The Totapari are known for breeding and training attack tapirs, which they herd as part of their nomadic lifestyle. These incredibly ferocious beasts are surprisingly fast and heavy, though smaller than the wooly variety (Trogon) used as a battle and pack mount by the Ariche. They are frequently adorned with tusks, bones, and leather armor to increase their fighting potential, though charging and trampling is their usual mode of attack. Despite their adorable appearance, Gurak are typically extremely ill-tempered and should not be approached.
