Argatoria: Er’Sael Black Orc Preview

Looking into the red eyes of the enormous Black Orcs, it’s very difficult to guess their thoughts. Unlike their green-skinned kin, they are often calm, absorbed in the labours of their settlement. They show little interest in war or ceaseless raids. Yet their wrath is feared by many – and rightly so. The Black Orcs are, in fact, killing machines, but one must understand how to unleash their murderous instincts. And there are only two ways to do so: by becoming their foe, or by earning their favour and turning them upon another.

The Orcs of Ugruk-hor, under the hand of the dread warlord Sael, achieved the latter many centuries past. The Black Orcs, brought to Ugruk-hor, were given a place of their own – an entire settlement raised specifically for them. The green-skins named it the Black Settlement, so that none would have any doubts as to who lived there.

When the war-host of the Er’Sael clan marches to battle, the Black Orcs march with it. And when the clash begins in earnest, a frenzy overtakes them. Then, from slow-moving and somewhat phlegmatic creatures, they become relentless warriors capable of striking down any opponent with their bone weapons. They attack with incredible ferocity, tirelessly pressing the enemy. One wave crashes upon the foe – then another, and another still. Only death can stop the Black Orcs.

Since their arrival upon the lands of Ugruk-hor, the Black Orcs known as the Nerh have been raising a strange, monumental statue beside their settlement. After many years, the work appears to be nearing its end. Some among the orcish mages and prophets believe that the construction of this monument has been a silent countdown. They speak of it with unease, their fears bound to an ancient vow. It is said that Sael once swore an oath before the leader of the Black Orcs. Their servitude, though long and loyal, was never meant to be eternal. When the hour foretold arrives, the Black Orcs will come to the greenskins to claim their prize. Some say it’s half of all the souls of Ugruk-hor…
