GW: Warhammer Open Day 2023 Preview

Im Rahmen des Warhammer Open Day 2023 in der Warhammer World in Nottingham haben Games Workshop wieder eine Vorschau auf kommende Neuheiten enthüllt, mit dem vierten Band der Arks of Omen Reihe, einem berühmten Tau Commander, einem verstohlenem Ork Boss, sowie zwei Chaos Fraktionen für Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Commander Farsight Returns With a Stylish New Battlesuit, an Arks of Omen Book, and a Boarding Patrol

The Arks of Omen narrative continues – and now the xenos are getting in on the action. While Vashtorr causes chaos at the Rock and Angron smashes Indomitus Fleet Quartus, the T’au renegade Commander Farsight fights his own personal war against Boss Nazdreg’s Bad Moons in Arks of Omen: Farsight.

And this time, O’Shovah has had an upgrade.

Puretide’s protege is now piloting a bleeding-edge XV-86 Supernova battlesuit, designed specifically to suit his needs by O’Vesa, the Earth Caste scientist who fights by his side as one of the Eight – Farsight’s hand-picked crew of companions. Though similar to the XV-8 Crisis suit, this hot rod sports greatly enhanced command and control suites, all guided by a fancy on-board AI – dubbed Supernova.

These upgrades come just in time for his greatest challenge yet in Arks of Omen: Farsight. The infamous Bad Moons warlord Nazdreg, master of tellyporta taktiks, has taken up the reins of the War of Dakka – a never-ending conflict fuelled by the Orks’ desire to beat the Farsight Enclaves at their own shooting game.

Strange visions draw O’Shovah back to the ominous world of Arthas Moloch, and just as he seems to be ready to vanquish the Orks once and for all, disaster strikes. It wouldn’t be an Arks of Omen book without an Ark or two showing up, after all…

Games Workshop Commander Farsight Returns 4

As with all Arks of Omen books, Farsight contains additional rules for playing Boarding Actions, adding Enhancements and Stratagems for the T’au Empire, Asuryani and Ynnari, Drukhari, Harlequins, and Adepta Sororitas.

There’s also a new Boarding Patrol box for the T’au Empire, the first place that you can acquire Farsight himself.*

This is hard-hitting force includes three Crisis Battlesuits and a squad of 10 Fire Warriors, who are perfectly suited for close-quarters combat when assembled as a Breacher Team. The battlesuits have numerous short-ranged weapon options, which offer great utility against many different enemy types in tight spaces.

You’ll also find O’Shovah himself – arguably the T’au Commander best-suited to tangling with foes in claustrophobic corridors – as well as enough spare Tactical Drones to form a small shipside squadron.

Don’t Call This Stealthy Ork an Oxymoron – Call Him Boss Snikrot

If there’s one single word with which the denizens of the 41st millennium would not associate Orks, it’s “subtlety”. Yet despite millennia of evolutionary odds stacked against them, a handful of Orks have embraced da kunnin’ but brutal ways of Mork, favouring sneakin’ about with massive knives over headlong assaults and big dakka – hang on, what’s that right behind you?

Snikrot, often known as Da Green Ghost, is a sly spectre who specialises in slitting throats and taking scalps with his massive combat knives, known as Mork’s Teeth.

Last seen on Armageddon, this clandestine killer has recently been spotted on the Arks of Omen, his approach heralded only by the ominous whine of his trademark night vision goggles activating in the dark.

Quite how he’s getting around or why he’s conducting daring boarding actions is anyone’s guess, but he commands a kunnin’ krew of raucous Orks on his travels.

Snikrot has three head options – mask off, mask up, or mask down – and you’ll be able to get him first in the upcoming Boarding Patrol: Orks. This box packs in five tooled-up Flash Gitz, 10 Beast Snagga Boyz, and 10 Kommandos – their loyal Distraction Grot and Bomb Squig in tow.

The Realmgore Ritualist Empowers the Khornate Faithful by Showering Them in the Blood of the Land

The Era of the Beast has induced savagery across the Mortal Realms, as the primal energy of Ghur suffuses the fragile minds of mortals. This outbreak of barbarism has  pleased Khorne greatly, and his blood-mad worshippers have conducted vile new rituals to channel this rage into power.

Realmgore Ritualists conduct these sacred blood rites of Khorne, spilling oceans of ichor as they slit the throats of countless prisoners and etch vile markings into the earth to glorify their ravenous god.

Once per battle, the Realmgore Ritualist can carve blazing runes into terrain, causing scalding realm-blood to erupt as the land itself contorts in agony. This cursed blood rain drives Bloodbound units within 8” into an incandescent frenzy.

Followers of Khorne will understand that none of this is even tangentially thaumaturgical, and you won’t find a scintilla of sorcery in Battletome: Blades of Khorne. You will however get a full complement of prayers – benedictions from the Blood God that are, once again, not spells even remotely.

A Realmgore Ritualist is only as good, however, as the warriors they can shower in crimson gore, which is where Vanguard: Blades of Khorne comes in. This congregation of carnage contains 10 Bloodreavers, 10 Blood Warriors, three Mighty Skullcrushers, and a sermon-spitting Slaughterpriest.

The Lord of Hubris Punishes Foes Who Fall for His Perniciously Peacocking Provocations

The Dark Prince Slaanesh remains incarcerated in the twilight non-realm of Uhl-Gysh, though his mortal legions continue to try and free him with all their might and guile.

Now, an arrogant new hero has deigned to join the quest, strutting into battle and daring anyone who thinks they’re skilled enough to take him on in single combat.

The Lord of Hubris is a smug, sneering showboat, so cocksure and confident that he wears scant armour, ruthlessly taunts his opponents, and sports eye-catching accessories to make sure he’s always the centre of attention.

These master duellists make a flamboyant beeline for the enemy’s finest,  aiming to goad them into personal combat with their arms spread, heads cocked, and a knowing sneer on their faces – but doom awaits those foolish enough to challenge the favoured of Slaanesh.

So confident is the Lord of Hubris in his skills that he’ll even let his foes make the first attack, granting an enemy unit the chance to strike first in that combat phase. As a result, enemies will focus solely on this swaggering swashbuckler, whose 4+ ward will deflect any incoming onslaught.

You’ll be able to find rules for this preening panjandrum in the forthcoming Battletome: Hedonites of Slaanesh. This is your complete guide to a violent parade of debauchery across the Mortal Realms.

Released alongside, Vanguard: Hedonites of Slaanesh provides you with all the tools you need to whittle away at the bonds that bind the God of Excess, with a spellcasting Shardspeaker of Slaanesh, three Slaangor Fiendbloods, 10 Blissbarb Archers and their Homonculus companion, and five Slickblade Seekers who can alternatively be built as Blissbarb Seekers.
