Temple of the West: Knights of the Round Table Kickstarter

Der neue Kickstarter des Temple of the West läuft.

ToW Daniel Mersey's Knights Of The Round Table 1

Foreword By: Daniel Mersey

I’ve been fascinated by Arthurian history and legend for as long as I can remember. Over the years I’ve researched and written about all things King Arthur, producing several non-fiction books (including two Osprey Adventures titles) and tabletop games (including Song of Arthur and Merlin, Glutter of Ravens, Dux Bellorum, and Dragon Rampant) on the subject. Working with Temple of the West to create my signature range of 28mm metal miniatures enabled a visualization of my own legendary Arthurian setting, influenced by medieval tales rather than generic fantasy, and by historical armor blended with folklore heraldry. We present a series of named knights and characters along with creatures and villains from British folklore and the Arthurian cycle. Enjoy creating your own Legends of the Round Table! -DM

Development:

For this project we enlisted 2 VERY seasoned sculptors. Our main sculptor for almost the entire range was Stavros Zouliatis. Our second sculptor, who created the gorgeous Palug’s Cat and Ywaine’s Lion, was Daniel Kelly. Each shield has been hand sculpted with the correct heraldry for that knight.

All of the gorgeous paint work you are seeing on the miniatures was done by the fantastic Steve Beckett as well as the logo for the range. Palug’s cat and Ywaine’s Lion were painted by our very own Kyle Gibson.

THE MINIATURES are true 28mm scale and cast in LEAD FREE white metal Pewter. They come unassembled and unpainted. All miniatures will come with round plastic bases.

REFERENCE CARDS were a fun addition to this campaign. The idea was to create an illustrative and descriptive pairing to each Character in the line. The colors are true to the heraldry and the traits and backstory that are written follow the actual Arthurian lore. They are a great addition to have on the table during a skirmish game or to help you immerse yourself in an Arthurian RPG campaign.

The card design was hand illustrated by the legendary Gary Chalk (Talisman, Warhammer, Lone Wolf, Rackham Confrontation). The character design and illustrations were drawn by the ever-talented Anton Fort.

Why Kickstarter?

As a small company it is very helpful for us to gauge the amount of interest in a project before we order materials and create inventory. Kickstarter is a great place for us to bring a new idea and see the level of interest in it. We (Temple of the West) just celebrated our 2nd year in business and are excited to bring this line to the world!

This is our first Kickstarter, but (as we say here in Texas) this is certainly not our „first rodeo“. We have created and delivered miniatures for games such as CLASH of Spears (By: the Erize brothers), Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse (By: Ash Barker), LEGENDS miniatures for use with RelicBlade (In partnership with Sean Sutter), and our own project Confrontation CONTINUUM.

We are THRILLED to be able to create these miniatures with one of our HEROES, Daniel Mersey.

Also Figuren und Setting.
