Warhammer 40.000

Revealed – Heretic Astartes Revel in the Blessings of the Chaos Gods

Foul omens have revealed the new Codex: Chaos Space Marines, and teased at the unholy boons within. We’ve already learned that the corrupt Legionaries who spill forth from the Eye of Terror are getting a panoply of accursed improvements – an extra wound not least among them – but what else do the Dark Gods have in store for those who have turned from the Emperor’s light?

Reinforcements. Lots of reinforcements.

Yes, your prayers have been answered! Let’s start with those beefed up Possessed – they’re now the size of a Space Marine in Gravis Armour – but rather than enhanced gene-seed, heavy engineering, and plenty of juice, these fiendish freaks are swollen with the power of Chaos.

Whether you’re a devout Word Bearer eager to share your body with a creature of the warp, an unfortunate victim of your Legion’s Master of Possession, or simply want to field a spectacular squad of devastating daemonkin, these warped and mutated creatures will fit into any force from the new codex.

Games Workshop Revealed – Heretic Astartes Revel In The Blessings Of The Chaos Gods 6

Heavy-hitting half-daemons offer some monstrous melee power, making them a great way to back up a gathered mob of Cultists. Fortunately, there’s a new box of miniatures on the way to represent those motley mortals foolish or ambitious enough to throw in their lot with the Dark Gods.

Vile abominations or blasphemous zealots – can’t decide? Why not both? The new Accursed Cultists represent the insane variety (and varied insanity) that overcomes mortal followers of the Traitor Legions, with a frenzied array of misshapen Mutants.

These gaggles of unholy heretic are accompanied on the battlefield by the horribly warped Torments – twisted beyond recognisability by dark rituals and daemonic influence, these abominations lurch forward to pounce on their enemies with a bestial hunger.

These grosteque guys lend a classic Lost and Damned feeling to any army of Traitoris Astartes – and they’ll be a welcome addition for any Chaos Lord who enjoys commanding a Cultist-heavy horde of mortal rabble, whether it’s an Alpha Legion rebel cell or the indentured helots of the Iron Warriors.

In fact, you can even lead your Cultists with more Cultists, thanks to a new HQ unit – the Dark Commune.

This squad is the festering heart of any Chaos cult, and offers a profane platter of prayers and powers. The priestly Cult Demagogue leads the congregation, accompanied by the psychic Mindwitch and inspiring Iconrach, all guarded by two Blessed Blades, whose sword skills keep unbelievers at bay.

Games Workshop Revealed – Heretic Astartes Revel In The Blessings Of The Chaos Gods 23

Of course, mutants and mortals aren’t the only things on the table in the massive new codex. The improvements to Legionaries ensure that the Traitor Legions are as terrifying as they deserve to be, while the new Warpsmith and Chaos Chosen make your machines more dangerous and your elites more, well, elite.

Chaos commanders, get ready to field a veteran warband of hardened Chaos Space Marines, a horde of chanting Cultists guided by a Dark Apostle, a pack of Daemon Engines led by a Lord Discordant, or anything in between – or even start your own Black Crusade with Abaddon.

Revealed – The All-new Daemon Prince Spreads his Wings in Warhammer 40,000

Last week we revealed an abominable surprise for the Mortal Realms, a leviathan of warp-twisted malevolence – the new Daemon Prince! But we can’t let Warhammer Age of Sigmar have all the fun – so the forces of Chaos in the 41st Millennium are getting a Daemon Prince of their own. Gaze upon him and despair…

This fearsome arch-fiend can be built in numerous ways, with different options to pay homage to each of the four dark gods, or Chaos Undivided! You’ll note that he bears some of the marks of his former existence as a Chaos Space Marine, now rippling and twisted into a horrifying new form.

Games Workshop Revealed – The All New Daemon Prince Spreads His Wings In Warhammer 40,000 1

Of course, this battlefield behemoth will have a datasheet to match his prowess. We aren’t quite ready to reveal that just yet, but you can bet your bottom credit that he’ll be a match for the best the Dark Millennium has to offer.

Games Workshop Revealed – The All New Daemon Prince Spreads His Wings In Warhammer 40,000 2 Games Workshop Revealed – The All New Daemon Prince Spreads His Wings In Warhammer 40,000 3

This massive, evil-eye-popping miniature – if you can even call it a “miniature” – won’t be out for a while yet. We’ll certainly have more information on what this fantastic fiend can do in due course, however. Incredibly, he’s part of a dual kit – you’re also able to build the Daemon Prince for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, albeit with very different accessories.

Revealed – Chapter Approved Kicks Off a New Season of Warhammer 40,000

With the fighting over Nachmund coming to a devastating climax, it’s time to head farther afield for the next Warhammer 40,000 season – and Chapter Approved: War Zone Nephilim is really going to shake up the matched play scene for the rest of the year.
Games Workshop Revealed – Chapter Approved Kicks Off A New Season Of Warhammer 40,000 1

The biggest change for the coming season is the way that Command points work. Armies will start each game with around half as many points as before, so you’ll have to be more cunning with how you use them – it’s far riskier to spend all your CP on a devastating turn one combo.

However, you’ll also gain extra CP with each battle round, so it’ll be easier to react to your opponent’s dastardly schemes in later turns as the game progresses.

Games Workshop Revealed – Chapter Approved Kicks Off A New Season Of Warhammer 40,000 2

The book includes secondary objectives for each army in the game, which have been rewritten and balanced against each other. Some are now harder to score, some are easier – and some are completely new. There are even bespoke secondary objectives for armies whose new codexes aren’t out yet, such as Chaos Daemons and Astra Militarum.

Games Workshop Revealed – Chapter Approved Kicks Off A New Season Of Warhammer 40,000 3

Now, take a deep breath. Points have been removed from the book. That’s right. Gone.

That’s because points updates will be free as of this new season of Warhammer 40,000! You’ll be able to get them in Warhammer 40,000: The App and right here on the Warhammer Community website.

So if you like to play at the competitive end of the spectrum, and enjoy attending events and tournaments, you’ll find the new Chapter Approved has loads of stuff that freshens up and balances that experience. Or if you just want to access the latest points to play more casually at home (maybe with the Eternal War missions in your core book), getting access to current points will be easy.

“points updates will be free as of this new season of Warhammer 40,000”

There’s even more in store for the wartorn far future – see what else has been revealed at Warhammer Fest.

Revealed – The Leagues of Votann Get On Their Trikes

Last month, we saw the first new miniature for the Leagues of Votann in three decades. We’re well overdue for another reveal, so start your engines, space miners, and check out this fresh take on a classic Rogue Trader-era design.

You’ve heard of flying pigs – well, what about a flying hog? For anyone who hasn’t been following the Leagues since parachute pants and giant shoulder pads were in fashion,* here’s the kind of trike the Kin were riding around in the 1980s.

Games Workshop Revealed – The Leagues Of Votann Get On Their Trikes 1

Though the old Squat Trikes were noticeably less airborne, you can see a number of key design cues that carried over to the Hernkyn Pioneer… as well as a few places where the technology of the Leagues of Votann has clearly diverged from the Imperium. There’s no mistaking this for a Space Marine bike!

Games Workshop Revealed – The Leagues Of Votann Get On Their Trikes 2

And check out the tough-and-testy triker holding the handlebars of the Hernkyn Pioneer! It’s our first look at a female Kin, clad in a coat and goggles worthy of any aviating outrider. In the Leagues of Votann, when the clan-family calls, everyone answers.

Blood, Skulls, and Butcher’s Nails: The World Eaters Are Getting Their Own Codex

Earlier today we saw some major reinforcements that the Heretic Astartes are getting alongside their new codex. But while this heretical tome is certainly fuelled by hate and driven by vengeance, it isn’t quite as angry as you might expect – one Legion is conspicuous in its absence.

The World Eaters are breaking free of the confines of Codex: Chaos Space Marines and will be getting their own book! The Death Guard and Thousand Sons have already received the same treatment, which gives you an idea of what to expect – bespoke abilities, in-depth lore, terrifying new miniatures, and more.

The new codex for the XII Legion is still a little way off – but the Warhammer Studio are hard at work in Khorne’s sweltering hell-forges, and we couldn’t be more excited. In the meantime, those of you who already have World Eaters armies can keep taking heads – we’ll soon be publishing an Index Hereticus of updated rules in White Dwarf, including datasheets for Khârn and the Berzerkers, to use with the new Codex: Chaos Space Marines.

Among the new models arriving with the codex are – of course – updated Khorne Berzerkers! The current miniatures have served the Lord of War for decades, claimed plenty of skulls and spilt their share of blood, and now it’s time for them to return to the Brass Citadel and put their feet up. But what will the new miniatures look like? We managed to twist a few arms in the studio for an exclusive first look at something rather important…

Games Workshop Blood, Skulls, And Butcher’s Nails The World Eaters Are Getting Their Own Codex 1

Khorne Berzerkers can’t go anywhere without their roaring chainaxes, and they’ll be using these heinous hatchets to chop their way through everything the 41st Millennium has to offer.

That’s not all – the codex will contain old favourites, dark legends, and some things that you’ve never seen before… We’ll be bringing you more updates on Codex: World Eaters and these murderous new miniatures over the next few months on Warhammer Community – so you can follow the Eightfold Path right up to release.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Revealed – New Sylvaneth Have Been Empowered by the Rite of Life

Alarielle’s Rite of Life has had transformative effects on the Mortal Realms, prompting the appearance of terrifying Krondspine Incarnates, but the impact it has had on her own kin has been just as profound.

After her untimely death in the Realmgate Wars, the Lady of Vines is back, thanks to the god-queen of the Sylvaneth – and a deep rage for all things that threaten the Sylvaneth smoulders in her thorny heart.

Games Workshop Revealed – New Sylvaneth Have Been Empowered By The Rite Of Life 1 Games Workshop Revealed – New Sylvaneth Have Been Empowered By The Rite Of Life 2

She isn’t alone, either, as with her comes death on silken wings. Gossamid Archers are lethal skirmishers afforded the power of flight by symbiotic zephyrspites – their arrows, loosed from elegant bows, play host to ravenous grubs that bore into their enemies. Yum!

The Rite of Life has also awoken long-dormant dragonspites, mighty insectile creatures that Sylvaneth tame and turn into indomitable steeds.

These fearsome cavalry come in two flavours. Spiterider Lancers are Alarielle’s elite shock cavalry. Lightning-fast, they dart into combat and strike their foes down before they can react.

Revenant Seekers are a touch slower, focusing on the vital task of harvesting the life energy of fallen Sylvaneth to resurrect their allies.

All of these fabulous floral fighters and carapaced cavalry are arriving alongside the latest book for the Everqueen’s forest-dwelling sentinels, Battletome: Syvlaneth, which you can expect to see more of in the coming weeks.

Revealed – Ogroid Theridons Prepare to Charge into the Mortal Realms

While many tribes flock to the Everchosen’s banner for power, fortune, and glory, the ogroids threw in their lot with the Chaos Gods after a devastating war with the forces of Destruction – and now they serve on the front lines of Archaon’s coming storm.
Theridons are shock-assault infantry par excellence, corded with thick muscle and standing head and shoulders above lesser, human warriors. Their speed and bulk carries them straight through enemy lines with an unstoppable horn-tipped charge, swinging colossal axes as easily as an aelf would flick a paintbrush.
Games Workshop Revealed – Ogroid Theridons Prepare To Charge Into The Mortal Realms 1

Once possessed of a mighty empire that stretched across great swathes of Ghur, the ogroids – known to themselves as Goroans – fought alongside Gorkamorka’s hordes, seeking the Destruction of all that threatened their civilisation. Unfortunately, the Bonesplitterz aren’t the most reliable neighbours, and the Goroan empire fell to rampaging greenskins.

What remained of the Goroans were enticed by Archaon with promises of a new home, secure against all invaders – the land that would become the Eightpoints. There, under the shadow of the Varanspire, the ogroids raise dark citadels, forge mighty weapons, and serve as overseers in the armies of Chaos.

Games Workshop Revealed – Ogroid Theridons Prepare To Charge Into The Mortal Realms 2

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the ogroids, of course – the pit-fighting Myrmidon has been a regular celebrity in the Warcry arena for some time, while the arcane Thaumaturge practices its deadly magic within Tzeentch’s armies. The Ogroid Theridons join them as a powerful heavy infantry option for the Slaves to Darkness, and the distant rumbling of hoofbeats suggests we’ve only got until winter to prepare.

Find out who’ll be mustering to stop their charge, alongside plenty more news from the Mortal Realms, as you tune into the rest of our coverage from Warhammer Fest Online 2022.

Revealed – New Skaven Deathmaster Sneaks Into Warhammer Fest, Yes-Yes!

We recently saw some death-dealing new Skaven from the Clans Eshin for Warhammer Underworlds. But while they’re out in the Nethermaze, who is taking care of the kill-contracts in the Mortal Realms?

The Skaven Deathmaster is an expert hero-killer armed with an arsenal of esoteric weapons coated in lethal toxins devised by the Clans Eshin, and more than a match for most targets.

Games Workshop Revealed – New Skaven Deathmaster Sneaks Into Warhammer Fest, Yes Yes! 1

Sneaky Skaven assassins have been around for a very long time, but this is the first time we’ve seen one in plastic. As you can see, it’s been updated with some very Warhammer Age of Sigmar-looking terrain while maintaining that classic Skaven look, including having a weaponised tail!

Games Workshop Revealed – New Skaven Deathmaster Sneaks Into Warhammer Fest, Yes Yes! 2

Along with Skittershank’s Clawpack from Warhammer Underworlds: Nethermaze, this Deathmaster will make an excellent start for a new Skaven army. Squeaking of Skaven, we can also reveal the next battletome for Grand Alliance Chaos – the children of the Horned Rat will be emerging into a realm near you very soon!

Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models

Warhammer Age of Sigmar is a rich, evolving narrative stretching from the Realmgate Wars through the Soul Warsup to the Era of the Beast and the awakening of Ghur. Such epic tales are given life by the great characters who inhabit them, and Black Library is always introducing more recurring heroes and anti-heroes – now, two of the brightest new stars are getting their own miniatures to field on the tabletop.

While Fafnir Rann and Dominion Zephon made their names at the Siege of Terra, these two Warhammer heroes both hail from the Mortal Realms – let’s take a closer look at the literary lads in question.

Cado Ezechiar

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 1

First up is Cado Ezechiar, star of the short stories Tower of Empty Mirrors and Beasts: The Road of the Hollow King. This windswept wanderer is anti-heroic, tragic, and vampiric to boot – bearing the immortal curse of the Soulblight Gravelords, the so-called Hollow King travels the Mortal Realms in search of revenge, haunted by those he’s lost. No, literally haunted.

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 2

Those thirsty for more of Ezechiar’s vengeful vampiric ventures needn’t worry – he’ll soon be getting his first full-length novel from creator John French, entitled The Hollow King.

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 3

The Hollow King isn’t the only one joining the battlefields of the Mortal Realms – the Kharadron Overlords are picking up a legendary sellsword – er, sell-axe? – of their own.

Drekki Flynt

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 4

Drekki Flynt is the protagonist of his own short stories, The Lost Karak and Krenkha Gorogna, and this stunning new model brings the smooth-talking, fast-talking, sweet-talking duardin to life. With his multi-barrelled aethermatic pistol, Karon, and (more importantly) an immaculately groomed beard, he’s ready to rob from the rich and give to the… well, some of it will make its way to the poor, we’re sure.

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 5

This travelling duardin pirate (he prefers “dashing rogue”) brings readers to cool locales across the Mortal Realms, usually filled with deadly enemies – sometimes, they even hate him for things that aren’t his fault! He’s also getting his first full-length novel from creator Guy Haley, in The Arkanaut’s Oath.

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Sagas, Two New Heroes, Two New Models 6

If you’ve been sleeping all day like Cado Ezechiar, catch up on the rest of today’s reveals for Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Revealed – The Massive Project to Put “Mortals” Back Into “Mortal Realms”

The Mortal Realms encompass worlds of high magic and impossible vistas of epic adventure. So far the Age of Sigmar has seen mighty storm-forged warriors stand against monstrous hordes, aelves on flying sea beasts clash with legions of skeletal constructs, gargants the size of castles wrestle with living gods, and plenty more besides.

But there’s one thing that’s been kind of missing – the ordinary folks who populate the Cities of Sigmar.

Normal humans offer a vital window into the worlds of Warhammer. When demigods clash with daemon princes, it’s the perspective of these mere mortals that gives us a frame of reference, and helps us to imagine the scale. In Warhammer 40,000, we can compare the galaxy’s myriad horrors to a humble guardsman – which helps us realise how lucky we are not to have to go anywhere near an Avatar of Khaine or a Hive Tyrant!

The same is true of the Mortal Realms, and while miniatures like the ven Densts and Elemda Braskov from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City have shown us how cool humans can be, they’ve always been a rarity among our releases. It’s time for that to change, as we reimagine the forces of common humanity and the Cities of Sigmar.

Games Workshop Revealed – The Massive Project To Put “Mortals” Back Into “Mortal Realms” 4

Organising the fractious Free Cities is no easy task, so the full release is still quite a way off – but we don’t intend to sit around and wait. Over the coming months, you can follow those who take up the Coin Malleus – a sacred, symbolic payment given to members of a Dawnbringer Crusade – and join us on Warhammer Community as we journey through the Warhammer Studio’s development of this jaw-dropping project.

We’ve even managed to procure a sneaky peek at some of the early miniature renders that the studio is working on right now.* These are some of the insignia, emblems, and symbols that will come with your models to demonstrate their rather macabre dedication to the God-King.

This is one of the biggest undertakings to hit the Mortal Realms since the launch of Warhammer Age of Sigmar – expect to see new concepts and miniatures grounded in the lore… but also quite unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Following Kill Team: Chalnath and Kill Team: Nachmund, this is the next quarterly boxed set for the skirmish combat game based in the 41st Millennium. As with the previous sets, Kill Team: Moroch is packed with miniatures, terrain, and more.

Games Workshop Revealed – Two New Kill Teams Break Concealment At Warhammer Fest 1

The box contains two teams of special operatives – starting with the brand new Blooded Kill Team. These Militarum Traitoris have left the Astra Militarum behind to worship the Chaos Gods.

The Traitor Enforcer and Traitor Ogryn were first seen in an expansion for Blackstone Fortress, while the rest of the Militarum Traitoris miniatures are entirely new – they’re designed to fit right in with the Traitor Guardsmen from Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress, and hold up a dark mirror to the Veteran Guardsman of Krieg. However, those who have fallen in with the Dark Gods prefer getting up close and personal in the name of Chaos.

Fighting back against these traitors are the covert specialists of the Adeptus Astartes – the Phobos Strike Team.

These extra bits let you build a range of unique special operatives, such as the Saboteur or the Voxbreaker.

The box also includes a battlefield mat, landing pad, STC hab-bunker and stockades, and a vox-antenna and auspex shrine from the Battlezone Fronteris terrain range.

This box is a great way to get into Kill Team for anyone new to the game – grab it and the Core Book and you’re good to go. For more experienced skirmishers, Moroch is perfect for expanding your games with new miniatures, missions, terrain, and more.

Revealed – A Wild Warcry Echoes Across Warhammer Fest

Big things are coming for Warcry. Look to the skies to decipher the portents.

Warcry’s vicious skirmish combat has always been set in and around the Eightpoints – the savage centre of the Mortal Realms, where the followers of Chaos endeavour to prove themselves worthy of Archaon’s attention, and warbands from other Grand Alliances seek to purify, plunder, or prey upon the Everchosen’s acolytes.

Yet the Mortal Realms are full of other great places to skirmish over, and – as the ominous events in the trailer suggest – we’ll soon be exploring a new one. We can’t say too much more today, but we can confirm that it’s a new setting with incredible new terrain and brand new warbands – some of which which may surprise you.

The Horns of Hashut are one such warband. These mortal followers of the god Hashut venture out in front of his all-conquering legions, seeking lands worthy of domination. They’re the vanguard of devastation and despair in a brutal machinery of endless war… and they have some very impressive hats.

The Horns of Hashut see the thriving jungles of Ghur and want nothing more than to burn them down to make way for the forges and foundries demanded by their dark father.

It’s not just about new warbands though – Warcry is also another stomping ground for the monsters of the Mortal Realms. Take a gander at the incredible new Centaurion Marshal.

As a Chaos Ally, this quarrelsome quadruped can be taken by a host of warbands – and as you might expect from someone wielding four weapons at once, he’s very handy in a fight.

Revealed – Grimbeorn and the Beornings Awaken from Hibernation

We recently announced the new supplement for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game – Defence of the North. Now, if you’ll bear with us for a moment, we’re revealing the next set of new miniatures.

Grimbeorn is the chieftain of the Beornings. He’s pretty useful with his axe, but just like his father Beorn he’s a skin-changer who can turn into a bear to unleash a terrible fury upon his enemies.

Games Workshop Revealed – Grimbeorn And The Beornings™ Awaken From Hibernation 1

Those Easterlings will definitely think twice before taking on a bear!

Accompanying Grimbeorn into battle are the Beornings. It’s clear from these Burly fighters that the wilds breed tough folk, more than capable of defending their homelands from any invaders.

These miniatures all come with alternate heads and can be armed with either great bows or hand-and-a-half axes.

Revealed – Squat Prospectors Hit the Motherlode in the Ash Wastes

The ash wastes are home to many strange creatures, from the Ash Waste Nomads to the Dustback Helamites. But something else has now poked its head up from the dunes.
Yes, you wait 30 years for the return of the Squats, and then they all come back at once! These are the Ironhead Squat Prospectors – tough and resourceful miners out in the ash wastes who are more than capable of defending themselves from anyone that tries to take the treasures they dig up.

Yes, they’re called Squats – the only ones in the galaxy who still use the name (that we know of). They are distant relatives to the Leagues of Votann – descendants of the explorers who left the home worlds and settled on Necromunda. While they’re not part of the Leagues, we’re sure they’d still get on with the Kin who are all grumbling about the Aeldari while sitting in the pub.

The gang comes loaded with cool kit from boltguns to heavy stubbers, and they’re not afraid to use mining equipment like stone burners and power hammers in a fight either.

You’ll be able to find rules for using the new Prospector gang in the upcoming Necromunda expansion, Book of the Outlands, which is your guide to fighting out in the ash wastes.

Along with Prospector rules, it also features expanded rules for Ash Waste Nomad war parties, Orlocks, and a complete set of new vehicle rules for gangs, including adding the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler, Ridgerunners, Wolfquads, and Rockgrinders to your rosters.

The Horus Heresy

Revealed – New Boxed Set for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy at Warhammer Fest

The new edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy was announced with a jaw-dropping trailer. It’s now time to lift the lid on the new boxed set.
This is a complete game for two players in a box that’s packed with incredible new miniatures. If you don’t feel like sharing, it’s a fantastic way to start or expand a new Warhammer: The Horus Heresy army! The miniatures are all plastic and much easier to build, making the game more accessible than ever before. (Who are we kidding, you’re not going to share it…)

Kicking off the set are a whopping 40 (forty!) Space Marine Legionaries in Mark VI Power Armour. The Tactical Squads that they make up are the core of any army for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy and are even more important in the new edition than ever before.

You won’t have long to wait to get your hands on this unbelievably packed boxed set, and while we can’t reveal full details of pricing, we can confirm that the set will cost less than £200 or $300 (US) when it launches. That’s a lot of Beakies for your bucks…

All the miniatures in the box are Legion-agnostic – they’ll all look incredible painted as any of the 18 Legions. If you’ve not already done so, now is the perfect time to head over to the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy website and find out which Space Marines Legion is for you.

Now you know whether you’re a Loyalist or a Traitor, you can see the rest of today’s big reveals for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy in a new light.

Revealed – Yet More Releases for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy

We’ve only just seen the magnificent boxed set for the new edition Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, but that’s just the beginning of your journey through the Age of Darkness. There’s a lot more stuff coming down the pipeline for the 31st Millennium.

First up are the two Legiones Astartes army books – one for Loyalists and one for the Traitors. Each book includes the profiles for shared units, from heroic Praetors to armoured Contemptor Dreadnoughts, as well as weapons, special rules, and guides to building your Legiones Astartes army.

The Liber Hereticus contains rules for all nine Traitor Legions, including Rites of War, Primarchs, Legion-specific units and wargear. If you’re of a more Loyalist bent, the Liber Astartes contains the same for the nine Loyalist Legions.

Whichever side you’re on, these books are the definitive guide to your army, packed with unit entry profiles, Warlord Traits, faction abilities, and unique reactions. These tomes are just the beginning – there will be similar books for other factions in the future.

Got the rules but need some reinforcements? The Mark VI Tactical Squad will also be available separately. This kit is packed with options and makes 20 Space Marines, so you can muster either two 10-man squads or one big 20-man one. Good luck to any enemies who want to shift that.

Prefer older marks of power armour? The Mark III and Mark IV Tactical Squads are getting repackaged into units of 20, making it easier than ever before to fill out the ranks of your Legion.

You’ll also be able to grab a pair of classic heroes to lead your forces into battle. Fans of the VI Legion and the XV Legion will want to pick up these plastic character miniatures.

Geigor Fell-hand and Azhek Ahriman were both originally available in the Burning of Prospero boxed set, but this is the first time their models will be available separately – and both heroes will have rules in their respective Liber Astartes books.

Revealed – Tool Up Your New Mark VI Space Marines with an Arsenal of Classic Weapons

The plastic Mark VI Space Marines for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy are an awesome way to bring a whole heap of bolter death to the battlefields of the Age of Darkness. But what if you need even more firepower?

The Mark VI Tactical Squad is one of the most flexible kits ever. It’s the lynchpin of your army – which you need to claim objectives and win games, and with the addition of these new weapon upgrade kits, you can transform it into Legion Tactical Support Squads or Legion Heavy Support Squads to really bring the hurt.

During the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy that followed it, entire squads were usually armed with the same weapon, and the new upgrade kits make it super simple to kit out your infantry. The Special Weapons upgrade set contains 10 meltaguns, 10 plasma guns, 10 volkite calivers, 10 volkite chargers, 10 flamers, and 10 rotor cannons.

Need to kill your enemies from further away? There’s an upgrade kit containing 10 heavy bolters and 10 missile launchers.

Prefer fire, melta, and plasma weapons? There’s an upgrade kit for you! It features 10 plasma cannons, 10 heavy flamers, and 10 multi-meltas.

Finally, there’s an upgrade kit with 10 volkite culverins, 10 lascannons, and 10 autocannons.

While each Legion had their preferred support weapons, they each made use of all these guns at various points throughout the Horus Heresy. So all you need to do is select your favourite weapons and you’re good to start hammering those Loyalists/Traitors (delete as appropriate).

Revealed – Ride Into Battle at Warhammer Fest with the Plastic Deimos-pattern Rhino

The Deimos-pattern Rhino was a common sight on the battlefields of the Age of Darkness, and a new plastic kit is on the way for this legendary vehicle.

Hot on the heels of the RTB01-esque Mark VI Space Marines comes the classic look of the Deimos-pattern Rhino. It will be easier than ever before to roll out a fully mechanised army for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.

Games Workshop Revealed – Ride Into Battle At Warhammer Fest With The Plastic Deimos Pattern Rhino 1

The kit comes with loads of options, including pintle-mounted weapons and wargear. The Rhino can be taken by any Legion, making it one of the best ways to get around whether you’re a Loyalist or a Traitor.* It’s similar (but not identical) to the Deimos-pattern Rhino from Forge World, and it will sit perfectly alongside your existing collection.

You’ll notice that the plastic Deimos-pattern Rhino shares design cues with the Sisters of Battle Rhino, and you’d be perfectly within your rights to drive it around in Warhammer 40,000 – after all, a number of these venerable workhorses survived until the 41st Millennium.

A New Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Heavy Tank Rolls Out

Eagle-eyed viewers of the stirring trailer for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy will have noticed something new for the Age of Darkness. If you were one of those people, award yourself five hobby points because you spotted the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank.

The Kratos is all but extinct in the 41st Millennium, but it was a common sight during the brutal battles of the Horus Heresy, where every Legion would field these armoured behemoths as line-breakers.

Games Workshop A New Warhammer The Horus Heresy Heavy Tank Rolls Out 1

In terms of hitting power, the Kratos sits between the Sicarian and Fellblade, armed with a massive battlecannon, a volkite cardanelle, or a melta blast-gun – in other words, your choice of huge weapon to kill whichever type of unit might give the rest of your army problems. But what do these three new guns do?

First up, the Kratos battlecannon offers a choice of shells. Need to kill a lot of enemy troops in one shot? Go for the high-explosive shells. Want to take out more heavily-armoured threats? Load in the armour-piercing ammo. Facing a massive enemy tank? See how it likes the taste of flashburn.

If you’re happy to trade flexibility for sheer firepower, the melta blast-gun will give your tank a more specialised role – it makes the Kratos the bane of enemy tanks and transports.

Alternatively, if you want to chew through massed ranks of enemy infantry, you can go with the volkite cardanelle. This giant heat ray will merrily melt the flesh from their lightly-armoured bones.

There’s also a range of options for your hull-mounted guns, the sponsons, and a host of pintle-mounted weapons. Or you can add a massive dozer blade to the front! In short, this is a flexible kit that you can really put your own stamp on.

The Kratos looks great in the colours of any Legion. The siege-loving Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors will be eyeing this up – and what son of Nocturn wouldn’t be impressed by one of the biggest melta weapons in the entire Legion arsenal?

    • Da wären ev. ein paar abgerockte Dosen was gewesen.
      so sonderlich.

Preise hin oder her. Es muss einem gefallen.

Viele coole Modelle bei. Die Squats sind nicht so gut gelungen.

      • Wenn Mantic nicht so hässliche Modelle hätte. :-/

*Trommelwirbel* in Vietnam/WW2/Moderne spielt.

Horus Heresy: Marines gegen Marines?

Mal abwarten, was da noch kommt.

LotR: Tote soll man ruhen lassen

Aber lore technisch nicht wegen Gensaat sondern weil „swollen with the power of Chaos.“. Ajo… wer extra so eine Erklärung braucht.

Torments, Possessed, Cultists, Accursed Cultists, Dark Commune?

Mal sehen, was da noch so kommt.
