GW: Warhammer Winter Online Preview

Warhammer Preview Online – Take Skulls and Spill Blood with Hordes of New World Eaters Units

Hot on the heels of Angron, the Berzerkers, and Lord Invocatus comes a full range of blood-hungry followers of Khorne. All together now – “blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne!”

The Eightbound

Virtually unrecognisable from the mortal Space Marines they once were, every member of the Eightbound is each possessed by eight (8!) separate daemons of Khorne. As you might expect, this makes them some of the most terrifying combatants in the galaxy – warriors locked in a constant battle for their own souls.

Sometimes the spirit of an Eightbound World Eater can even emerge triumphant, becoming one with the eight neverborn sharing its physical form. These are the Exalted Eightbound, even more dangerous and daemonic than others of their kind.

When you absolutely, positively have to ferociously eviscerate every enemy on the battlefield – send in the Eightbound, who come as a set of three.

Jakhals

The World Eaters army isn’t just about the elite combat monsters of the Butcher Astartes. There are also new mortal followers in the form of Jakhals… who are combat monsters in their own right. These cultists are only slightly less deranged than their masters, and favour sheer brutality over tactical niceties such as “guns”.

If you think they look nasty now, wait until you see what they can do when they’re all juiced up on stimms.

Lord on Juggernaut

Lead your ground-shaking charge with the savage Lord on Juggernaut. Anything lucky enough to survive a sweep of his exalted chainblade will find itself impaled on the Juggernaut’s bladed horn.

These new miniatures are all absolutely dripping with character – and blood, in most cases – and they’ll look even better when you put the entire army together.

Like most Traitor Legions, the World Eaters also include more ubiquitous units in their ranks, such as Land Raiders, Daemon Engines, and Terminators, as well as immortal Daemon Princes of Khorne. And thanks to the new Codex: Chaos Daemons, they can also be joined by furious daemonic allies…

But where are the rules for these shiny new followers of Khorne? Look no further than the gore-drenched Codex: World Eaters. Take a first glance at the cover of this tome of carnage.

We’ll have more on these new miniatures as we get closer to their release – which is in early 2023.

Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks of Omen Books Revealed

The Emperor’s Tarot offers sombre portents of things to come. The Arks of Omen are nigh. Dredged from interstellar darkness by unknown machinations, these titanic vessels herald upheaval for the galaxy – kicking off the next big narrative arc for Warhammer 40,000.

This groundbreaking series follows an unfolding story across a series of books packed with lore and game rules – and we’ve caught sight of the first three.

Each book is named for the character it stars – with two names you’ll definitely recognise, and one new player in the ranks of Chaos – and follows a dark crusade against the Imperium as the galaxy slips deeper into madness. Abaddon’s balefleets have set out to recover mysterious artefacts from all corners of the Imperium, and whatever he’s planning can’t be good news.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 1 Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 2 Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 3

The first three books reignite the classic struggle between the Imperium of man and the forces of Chaos – with the third introducing a major new character to the setting, Vashtorr. The fourth book will be a distinctly xenos affair, however. We’ll have more on that next year, along with news on the rest of the series…

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 4

The Arks of Omen series also contains rules for a new style of Warhammer 40,000 game, called Boarding Actions. This self-contained expansion pits elite 500-point forces against each other in nail-biting close-quarters combat, fighting through the claustrophobic confines of ship decks and space hulks.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 5

This isn’t Kill Team – in Boarding Action games, whole armies will smash through doors and clear corners. The twist? There’s no room for bulky monsters and war machines, nor for burning rubber down tight corridors or taking to the skies in cramped hallways. Instead, infantry and elites take centre-stage, locked in a desperate battle for control. You must adapt your tactics to the close confines of a voidship, and you’ll need to bring your best to survive point-blank firefights and sudden ambushes.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The First Three Arks Of Omen Books Revealed 6

These games of Warhammer 40,000 will be fully compatible with the space hulk terrain found in sets like Kill Team: Shadowvaults, which will soon be seeing a standalone release.

This series is a must-have for fans of Warhammer 40,000 lore and gameplay alike. Arks of Omen: Abaddon will be out before Christmas – so now’s the time to think about mustering a Boarding Patrol of your own. In the meantime, head back to the hub page and check out everything else revealed today.

Warhammer Online Preview – Who is the Daemonic Entity Coming to Shake Up the 41st Millennium?

His name has been echoed in mechanical vox-whispers, scrawled in the corners of maddening scrap-code, and even emblazoned across the cover of one of the first three Arks of Omen books. But who is Vashtorr, and what are his designs for the galaxy?

Vashtorr the Arkifane is a major new character for Warhammer 40,000 – he’s an enigmatic daemonic mechanic, a fiendish forge-master who specialises in corrupt machines and insane innovation. Unsurprisingly, Warpsmiths and the Dark Mechanicum think he’s great.
Games Workshop Warhammer Online Preview – Who Is The Daemonic Entity Coming To Shake Up The 41st Millennium 1

Alongside his ally Abaddon, Vashtorr is the master planner behind the whole Arks of Omen scheme. His meticulous mind is constantly at work, whirring away to craft plans within plans, embedded with complex sub-plots and subroutines alike. Has the Despoiler has bitten off more than he can chew?

Not everyone is a fan – Be’lakor especially seems to dislike this uncanny upstart. With one of the most stunning daemonic miniatures ever, could it be that the Dark Master is just jealous of Vashtorr?

We’ll have more news about Vasthorr the Arkifane and his intricate schemes next year.

Warhammer Preview Online – Enter Beast Mode With the New Beastlord

We couldn’t let all the Chaos fun be confined to the 41st Millennium! The Mortal Realms will soon be quaking to the stampeding hooves of the Beasts of Chaos with their forthcoming new releases.

But who’s that angry goaty boi in the video? That’s the brand new Beastlord, and he’s ready to hack his way through anything that stands in his way with his paired man-ripper axes. Let’s take a closer look.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – Enter Beast Mode With The New Beastlord 1

In the merciless society of the Beasts of Chaos, only the strongest can rise to power. These are the Beastlords, hulking killers and battle-tested raiders who command through intimidation – and frankly, we’re not going to argue.

Not only is the Beastlord getting a bestial new miniature – in plastic for the first time – he’s also the cover star of the new Battletome: Beasts of Chaos. Here he is, mid-bellow, after man-ripping his way through some unfortunate Stormcast Eternals.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – Enter Beast Mode With The New Beastlord 2

The new battletome brings new rules and abilities for loads of current units, with a strong emphasis on ambushing your enemies. There are all sorts of tricks you can play to surround your opponents and make them regret the day they decided to enter the wild lands.

The Beastlord has also been buffed – not only is he stronger and tougher than before, his Hatred of Heroes has only grown.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – Enter Beast Mode With The New Beastlord 3

We’ll be taking an in-depth look inside the new Beasts of Chaos battletome next year.

Warhammer Preview Online – Da Gloomspite Gitz Crash Da Party Atop New Snarlfang Steeds

We’ve seen the incredible new Beastlord, but now it’s time to put some boing in your step as we reveal something very special for the Gloomspite Gitz.

We’ve already seen gobbos on doggos in the form of Rippa’s Snarlfangs, a warband for Warhammer Underworlds, but soon you’ll be able to take a full unit (or units!) of Snarlfang Riders in your games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Perhaps descended from the classic Wolf Riders of the World-that-Was, these greenskinned raiders belong to the plains-dwelling Gitmobs – rather than the subterranean Moonclans or arboreal Spiderfangs – and bring a fast, flexible element to Gloomspite Gitz armies.

Armed with grot bows, stabbin’ stikkas, and the slavering, toxic jaws of their snarlfang partners in crime, these gobbos are great at flanking enemy positions and finishing off wounded targets, thanks to their cruel ability to Smell Weakness.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – Da Gloomspite Gitz Crash Da Party Atop New Snarlfang Steeds 6

Wait, new rules? But that must mean… Yes, the Gloomspite Gitz are getting a new battletome!

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – Da Gloomspite Gitz Crash Da Party Atop New Snarlfang Steeds 7

While the cover may be an update on the existing battletome, the insides have changed quite considerably! Lots of units are getting new rules and abilities, and there are some tasty stat boosts across the battletome. Our top pick is squigs – they’re getting better, bouncier, and bitier – and an all-squig army will be viable.* As will a force of rampaging troggoths, skittering spiders, or waves of hapless shroom-addled grots.

The Gloomspite Gitz and Beasts of Chaos are far from the only Warhammer Age of Sigmar factions arriving in 2023. Check out the latest roadmap…

We’ll have more on the Snarlfang Riders and Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz as we get closer to next year’s release date.

Warhammer Preview Online – The Looncourt’s Gitz Go Questing Into the Gnarlwood

It’s already been a great day for Gloomspite Gitz fans, with the announcement of a new battletome and lupine companions for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. There’s now even more good news – the next warband for Warhammer Underworlds: Gnarlwood are a group of gobbos masquerading as noble knights. Meet Grinkrak’s Looncourt.

These (ig)noble gitz have truly been touched by the Bad Moon. Hopped up on a combination of dizzying rhetoric and psychoactive fungi – both supplied by their leader Grinkrak – they believe themselves to be mighty Loonknights, sallying into the Gnarlwood on a heroic quest.

These incredibly characterful miniatures lean into the full charm of the greenskin range. In game, they use their numbers to swarm objective tokens – some of fighters even pack a surprising punch.

Armed with an eclectic – and often organic – variety of weaponry, including a squigapult and a squig spear, the Looncourt are coming to Gnarlwood to claim glory (points), accompanied by the dulcet sounds of Snorbo’s spore trumpet. So if you hear the sound of dooting carried on the breeze, brace for a charge from the mighty Looncourt.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The Looncourt’s Gitz Go Questing Into The Gnarlwood 5

Grinkrak the Great is more likely to be leading from the back – fungal flower of chivalry though he might be, you don’t rise to the heady heights of warband leader by taking too many risks. But, of course, if anyone gets too close, he’s pretty handy with his moon-slicer.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – The Looncourt’s Gitz Go Questing Into The Gnarlwood 6

He can even Inspire his knightly subjects with an impromptu dubbing ceremony mid-battle. But what’s a Questobjective? You can find out when we get a little bit closer to release, when we’ll also be looking at the Looncourt’s Rivals deck which lets you play them straight out of the box.

Warhammer Preview Online – House Cawdor Takes a Stroll Through the Ash Wastes

We’ve already visited the heights of berserk madness and the depths of grotty cruelty at the US Open. Now it’s time to turn to the wide-open spaces of Necromunda. There are many ways to get around the ash wastes – from four wheels to two wheels, and even no wheels or giant tracks –  but how will House Cawdor conquer the deserts?

It turns out that they’re going back to that old classic – legs.

House Cawdor dreams of emulating great heroes from Imperial legends and the holy war machines of their armies, such as the Warhound Titan, Imperial Knight, or Astra Militarum Sentinel. Unfortunately, these noble engines are a bit harder to manufacture when you don’t have a Forge World to hand and all of your building materials come from the garbage heap.

As you can see, the Ridge Walker echoes a lineage of (much) prouder fighting machines from across the 41st Millennium. With these ramshackle creations, the pious followers of House Cawdor can make their way between the shrines and holy places on Necromunda, traversing even the most rugged terrain at a semi-dignified trot.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – House Cawdor Takes A Stroll Through The Ash Wastes 5

The Way-Brethren who pilot these mechanical mules are capable warriors in their own right, using their speedy steeds to scout ahead of Cawdor convoys and bully their way through enemy lines. A number of them like to wield lances, aping the knights of ancient Terra, or the rather more refined technology fielded by Atillan Rough Riders. Despite their shonky appearance, these literal boomsticks can pack quite a punch – and come in a few varieties.

Games Workshop Warhammer Preview Online – House Cawdor Takes A Stroll Through The Ash Wastes 6

We’ll have more on the Ridge Walkers – and other mechanical menaces to the outlands – as we get closer to their release date.

Guck Dir mal an, was Skullhamma macht.

    This ist not Kill Team….
    Mal schauen was da kommt…

  • Also die 40K Khorne Sachen gefallen mir extrem gut.
