GW: Warhammer Day Warhammer 40.000 Preview

Celebrate 35 Years of Warhammer 40,000 with Today’s Warhammer Day Preview Online – Today!

Break out the party streamers! An extra-special Warhammer Day Preview Online is here, celebrating 35 years of Warhammer 40,000 the only way we know how: revealing loads of awesome stuff.

Warhammer Day Reveals – Cadia Stands With an All-New Army Set

Their planet may be dead and their armies scattered, but the Astra Militarum’s greatest heroes have soldiered on. The Cadian Shock Troops are back – with a vengeance.

Called Cadia Stands, this Army Launch Set is the start of a huge overhaul for the Astra Militarum range, bringing new and highly detailed kits to the battlefields of Warhammer 40,000.

The box contains 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a Command Squad, a Field Ordnance Battery, and a Sentinel – plus a spoilerific codex that we can’t show quite yet – but these are far from the only new miniatures coming for the Astra Militarum.

A squad of Cadian Shock Troops packs in more special weapons than a standard Infantry Squad, leaving the Heavy Weapons Team behind for greater mobility.

Cadian Command Squads wring more from your infantry too, issuing orders and rallying nearby Guardsmen when the going gets a little too tough.

In addition to tripod-mounted heavy weapons, Astra Militarum regiments have begun wheeling larger artillery pieces to the front lines. Equipped with large-bore cannons, multi-missile launchers, or heavy, overcharged lascannons, Field Ordnance Batteries are the most powerful man-portable assets available.

We’ve already seen the armoured variant of the Sentinel– revealed alongside the new Lord Castellan of Cadia, Ursula Creed – but the kit also makes a classic Scout Sentinel complete with open canopy and chainsaw attachment.

In addition to the miniatures contained in the Army Launch Set, two more classic units are getting a well-earned update.

Fresh troops need a new Commissar to watch over them, and this stern individual will make sure the Cadians become the best soldiers they can be – or die trying.

Whether on their own or as part of an Infantry Squad, Heavy Weapons Teams are responsible for taking down the big beasts that lasguns won’t scratch. All the classic weapons are back, from heavy bolters to lascannons, and each base contains a massive amount of options to make them stand out. With spotters, loaders, sergeants, and more – allowing each team to look like its own mini-diorama.

Every Astra Militarum player can include these new Cadian models in their army, as the new codex returns to the old days of mixing and matching regiments – which means fielding squads of Shock Troops alongside the Death Korps of Krieg, Catachan Jungle Fighters, and more. Instead of tying your troops to a specific world, you’ll create a Regimental Doctrine that fits your preferred playstyle by combining two doctrine rules. Some of these are themed after iconic regiments, but you’re free to pick and combine whichever you like the most.

For example – do you love ranks of infantry standing firm and firing disciplined volleys in the face of mounting casualties? Choose the Cult of Sacrifice and Parade Drill doctrines to add a touch of die-hard Death Korps determination to the Mordian Iron Guard’s discipline.

Warhammer Day Reveals – Crush and Maim for Khorne With Lord Invocatus

Khornate hordes are more like a natural disaster than a disciplined army, steamrolling planets in waves of bloodshed. It takes a warrior of supreme skill and confidence to command them – a warrior like Lord Invocatus.

Scholars of Chaos lore may have heard of Lord Invocatus’ exploits already, particularly his devastation of a powerful Deathwatch watch fortress in a previous Codex: Chaos Space Marines. He leads thunderous charges of Bloodcrushers and Berzerkers in frontal attacks that light the sky aflame, and some claim he even rides the flames themselves.

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Crush And Maim For Khorne With Lord Invocatus 1

His design pays homage to the classic Khorne Lord on Juggernaut from the early days of Warhammer 40,000, bringing the sheer mass and presence of the old metal miniature roaring into the modern day. It’s immediately clear that Lord Invocatus hits like a train full of bricks, and his Juggernaut has a chainsaw horn!

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Crush And Maim For Khorne With Lord Invocatus 2

But what forces will he be leading? We’ve already seen a fresh new look for the Khorne Berzerkers, and the Daemon Primarch who leads them, but there’s more yet to come in 2023. Lord Invocatus would definitely look good leading a pack of summoned Flesh Hounds and Bloodcrushers into battle, but we wonder if he’ll have any more allies on the way…

Warhammer Day Reveals – What Are the Arks of Omen?

With the ruthless advance of Haarken Worldclaimer’s armada through the Nachmund Gauntlet – one of the very few safe passages through the Cicatrix Maledictum – the forces of Chaos are nearing their goal. Only a few faltering obstacles stand between Abaddon the Despoiler and supremacy over the entire Imperium Nihilus.

Now the Warmaster begins his play for this vital strategic objective in Arks of Omen – the next major narrative leap for Warhammer 40,000.

With his forces spread across warzones at Vigilus, Dharrovar, and beyond, Abaddon needs one good knockout punch to destroy the loyalists once and for all. The arrival of a mysterious ally provides the break he needs, and work begins on his new Balefleets – swarms of heretic warships, reinforced by the mighty Arks of Omen.

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Preview What Are The Arks Of Omen 1

These colossal void craft are built around the cavernous bodies of space hulks fished from the warp, heavily weaponised and augmented with the means to steer them through the stars. Each is awarded to a favoured warband – seeded, naturally, with loyal enforcers and informants – and dispatched to claim artefacts of mysterious provenance. What’s the ultimate plan for these vast warships and the artefacts they seek? Abaddon’s not telling.

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Preview What Are The Arks Of Omen 2

Arks of Omen is a forthcoming multi-book series that will take the story of Warhammer 40,000 further into its perilous future, starring a cast of new and returning characters with an epic narrative and some truly incredible miniatures.

It’s all exciting news for fans of Warhammer lore.

But what does it mean for your games?

Following player feedback from across the community, this series won’t include extra rules for standard games of Warhammer 40,000. You’ve told us that you don’t want to juggle army rules spread over multiple books. No worries – we hear you.

Instead, you get something better. The first volume of Arks of Omen presents a self-contained expansion – a whole new game mode called Boarding Action. These rules will allow your armies to fight intense Boarding Action battles through the claustrophobic corridors of voidcraft, space hulks, bunkers, and more, using standalone sets of the new terrain first found in Kill Team: Into the Dark.

Boarding Actions are bigger than the shipboard skirmishes you’ve enjoyed in Kill Team. Forget small squads of subtle operatives – we’re talking whole armies smashing into each other, locked in the claustrophobic and utterly lethal scenario of full-on ship-to-ship boarding action.

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Preview What Are The Arks Of Omen 3

Boarding Action battles open up a whole range of confined conflicts. The forces of the new Chaos armada are charging aboard embattled ships and orbital stations to cripple defensive systems and claim choice loot – but they don’t have it all their own way. The Arks of Omen are a big target, and will soon be facing Space Marine strike forces, plucky Militarum boarding parties, inscrutable Aeldari raiders, and anyone else with a close range-weapon and a death wish who fancies their chances inside the belly of the beast.

Each book in the series will introduce new developments for both the story and tabletop experience, adding new missions, expanded rules, and extra options for your Boarding Actions games.

Warhammer Day Reveals – Bloody Boarding Actions in Warhammer 40,000

Abaddon’s Balefleets are surging across the galaxy, and all who stand in their path are desperate to seize or destroy the massive Arks of Omen that serve as their flagships. This new theatre of war is unlike anything your armies have faced so far, and they’ll need to adapt rapidly as Warhammer 40,000 plunges into an era of Boarding Actions.

Boarding Action pits compact, 500-point forces against each other in vicious room-to-room combat, using the rules found in the first Arks of Omen book. This new set contains enough modular terrain to fill an entire board with narrow corridors and perilous hatchways, creating a tense and exciting environment in mere moments.

Elite infantry shine in the cramped confines of a Boarding Action, as you won’t have access to VEHICLES, MONSTERS, or other large, lumbering models to back them up. Of course, there’s something to be said for flooding an entire flight deck with Boarding Squads of disposable chaff…

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Preview Bloody Boarding Actions In Warhammer 40,000 5

Endless tight corners mean close-ranged weapons are king. Can Fire Warrior Breachers kick open a door and blast an opening through Abaddon’s elite Chaos Terminators? Who’ll win a flame exchange between Ork Burna Boyz and Space Marine Aggressors? Boarding Actions will upend how you build your armies.

If you’ve already got ideas for your own Boarding Patrol, you can make them look the part with a new Boarding Action-inspired basing kit. It’s packed with all the scrap and plating you’ll need to make your soldiers feel right

Warhammer Day Reveals – Kasrkin and Cryptek Kill Teams Rumble in the Gallowdark

The Gallowdark continues to draw elite forces into its depths, and now it’s the turn of the Astra Militarum and Necrons to enter the ancient space hulk in Kill Team: Shadowvaults.

Kill Team: Shadowvaults expands the close-quarters experience started in Into the Dark, adding new elements to the killzone like sentry turrets, equipment stashes, and ancient robots. Nine new missions make full use of the new pieces – including lightning raids, covert assaults, and desperate defences inside valuable vaults.

Games Workshop Warhammer Day Preview Kasrkin And Cryptek Kill Teams Rumble In The Gallowdark 1

Together with the Gallowdark terrain found in Into the Dark, this set gives you enough walls and boards to play Boarding Action games of Warhammer 40,000 featured in the Arks of Omen books.

The Kasrkin are elite even by Cadia’s exceptional standards, and considered by many to be the finest human troops in the galaxy. This kit is packed with options, including gear never seen before in Kasrkin squads with armour-busting hotshot lasguns and oodles of special weapons to take down powerful foes – even heretic Space Marines.

Necron Hierotek Circles are commanded by a Cryptek, dispatched on special missions for their Overlords across the stars. They field small units of Deathmarks and Immortals for personal protection, while unravelling the mysteries of the galaxy alongside their faithful Apprenteks, Plasmacytes, and an upgraded Immortal Despotek.

Then there are the new terrain pieces, also currently only available in this set. These are interactive, and provide a whole new tactical dimension to your games. They include a heavy bolter sentry turret, a bomb, a robot crawler with a big old buzzsaw arm, and piles of equipment – with more to be revealed. What do they do? You’ll have to wait and see…

Warhammer Day Reveals – The Daemon in the Machine

There’s just one more thing to reveal in today’s Warhammer Day extravaganza, and- Huh. That’s weird… the files we were going to show you seem to have… disappeared.

What could be responsible? It would take an entity of considerable power to aff!#◎…

      • Tyraniden??? Genau, deswegen auch „A new power rises in the warp“ „I have come to make you an offer“ ist voll der Tyraniden-Style! Lore, setzen 6!

  • Neue Cadians gefallen mir sehr gut. Well done.

Klumpige Designs…

      Leute also manchmal….
