What YOU Can Get at the Black Library Celebration

Games Workshop What YOU Can Get At The Black Library Celebration 1

This year’s Black Library Celebration is fast approaching! On Saturday the 29th of February, Warhammer stores and selected independent retailers across the world will be packed with new books, Black Library-themed miniatures, merchandise and much more. To find out exactly what you’ll be adding to your bookshelves, read on…

The Build-up

This year, the Celebration actually kicks off early. From Monday the 24th through to Celebration Day, you’ll be able to download a new short story eBook every day. These include tales of the Idoneth Deepkin, the necrons and more – look out for them from BlackLibrary.com, iBooks and the Kindle store.

In Stores

In your local Warhammer store, you’ll find masses of new books and more to pick up, starting with Chris Wraight’s new Warhammer 40,000 novel Watchers of the Throne: The Regent’s Shadow. After you’ve read this tale of the Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence, you can also build and paint the protagonists, Valerian and Aleya, with two awesome plastic models. These are perfect for display, or to use in your games of Warhammer 40,000, in which case you might want to head online to pick up a set of Adeptus Custodes dice as well. We can’t guarantee that each one is Emperor-blessed, but they certainly look awesome. These aren’t available in stores, so don’t forget to grab them from the Games Workshop website.

You’ll be able to get your hands on a wide variety of hardbacks, from across the worlds of Warhammer. Discover the trials of the Astra Militarum’s penal legions in the 20th Anniversary edition of Gav Thorpe’s classic Last Chancers novel 13th Legion. Delve into the underhive in search of a great prize in the new Kal Jerico novel, Sinner’s Bounty by Josh Reynolds. Read a selection of short stories from the Mortal Realms – including the first Warhammer Age of Sigmar tale by Gotrek & Felix creator William King – in Oaths & Conquests. And return to the greatest battle of all time in The First Wall, the epic third novel in the Siege of Terra miniseries.

You’ll also be able to pick up a pair of classic novels that were chosen by you, the readers, to return in paperback for a limited time. Aaron Dembski-Bowden’s Helsreach throws you into the war for Armageddon, through the eyes of the Black Templars Chaplain Grimaldus. In Chris Wraight’s Iron Company, you’ll wage war in Sigmar’s Empire alongside a retired engineer called back to duty to stop his old rival. You can also get a free – yes, free – short story anthology that contains six tales specially selected to introduce you to the various settings of Black Library’s stories. These include an Adepta Sororitas story by Danie Ware, a Warcry tale from Sarah Cawkwell, and much more.

France and Germany

French and German stores will be getting goodies too. Both will have translated editions of Watchers of the Throne: The Regent’s Shadow and the Celebration anthology, alongside Gav Thorpe’s Chaos-infused Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel, The Red Feast.

The Sabbat Worlds Crusade has also received a translation, so French and German Dan Abnett fans can experience the glory of this beautiful background book in their native tongue. To go alongside this, the Sabbat Worlds map, pin badges and and coasters will be available again online, giving Gaunt’s Ghosts enthusiasts a chance to pick up the entire Sabbat Worlds product range.

Online

If you can’t make it to a Warhammer store, fear not! All the books and merchandise listed above will be available online – and you’ll get the free Celebration anthology with your order! Most of them will also have eBook editions, and both The Regent’s Shadow and The First Wall will also be released as MP3 audiobooks. There are also some online exclusives! You’ll be able to delve into the under-empire of the skaven with a Print on Demand edition of the classic Warhammer Fantasy background book The Loathsome Ratmen and All Their Vile Kin by Mitchel Scanlon.

You’ll also have the chance to catch up with the Siege of Terra so far in a trio of bundles, collecting books 1-3 in hardback, eBook and MP3 audiobook formats. If you want even more audio, head to Audible or the Black Library Audio App to discover ten new bundles of audio dramas. Three of these collect together Horus Heresy audio dramas, and the others are each themed around Warhammer 40,000 factions. Each bundle will give you an instant collection of between six and ten audio dramas – plenty of listening to keep you going through even the most marathon journeys or painting sessions!

      • Matt Ward, Mitchel Scanlon, Mike Lee, James Swallow, CS Goto, Ben Counter.

Nein.
