Fancy a look at some new models? We thought you might!

We’re at SPIEL ’18 in Essen, Germany – well, some of us are – enjoying meeting fans at the world’s biggest tabletop gaming convention.

We’ve even brought some new and unreleased models with us, and a few lucky attendees have already had the chance to get a first look at them. But to save you the trouble of travelling all the way to Germany to take a look, we’re going to reveal them here, for your collective viewing pleasure!

First up, we’ve got a sneaky glimpse of one of Warhammer Underworlds’ most hotly anticipated warbands – meet Mollog’s Mob:

The Mirrored City is full of conquerors, despoilers and seekers of arcane knowledge, but Mollog – an ancient Dankhold Troggoth – just wants a nap! Stirred from a long slumber, he now seeks a bit of peace and quiet, and is more than happy to crack the skulls of anyone who’d deny it to him.

Mollog is accompanied by a small pack of Squiggly beasts, including the already infamous Bat Squig, the toxic Spiteshroom and the Stalagsquig – the squig you never knew you wanted until now. The warband is set to be quite unlike any other that we’ve seen so far in the new season of Warhammer Underworlds, requiring a very different play-style, but it’s probably fair to say that anything on the receiving end of Mollog’s fungal club is in serious trouble!

Mollog’s Mob will be out in the next few months – we’ll have more updates on how this unusual warband works closer to their release.

Warhammer Underworlds isn’t the only game getting some new stuff soon – something spooky is shambling pitchwards in the world of Blood Bowl…

In Blood Bowl, death needn’t be the end – indeed, for many players, it has proven to be the start of a fulfilling and successful second career on the pitch thanks to the art of necromancy! One team of such players – the Champions of Death – will soon be hitting the gridiron, so watch out…

The Rise & Fall of Anvalor

We can also announce an exciting new licensed board game from WizKids (whose previous credits include Warhammer 40,000 Dice Masters), set in the Age of Sigmar – The Rise & Fall of Anvalor. Here’s the story so far…

“Many previous attempts to build a lasting fortification at Anvalor have failed. Its strategic location on the Great Parch, a particularly arid region of Aqshy, the Realm of Fire, is of supreme importance. However, each new effort to establish a significant foothold has also irked a new foe, an enemy who rises to the challenge of thwarting the attempt. Equally distant from Anvilgard, Hammerhal Aqsha and the City of Brimstone, the competing factions of those great cities have put their quarrels aside and committed to a final push to rebuild Anvalor together. Whoever can secure the new stronghold will also dominate the Great Parch, significantly strengthening their influence in all the Mortal Realms.”

Sounds like trouble is definitely brewing! Warhammer Age of Sigmar: The Rise & Fall of Anvalor is a 1-4 player game that lasts up to an hour with each playthrough. In the game, you and your rivals compete to gather the most influence in Anvalor in order to dominate the budding city or cause its downfall. The player who secures the most influence at the end of the game wins.

There are nine playable factions to choose from, ranging from famous Aqshian rivals, the Hammers of Sigmar and the Khornate legions of Khorgos Khul, to the Vorstarg Fyreslayer Lodge and even the Order Serpentis. We’ll be bringing you more information on this game in the future, so keep your eyes peeled.

SPIEL Demos

While we’ve been here, we’ve also been running demo pods, introducing the Warhammer hobby to the masses. We’re showing off Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team, Warhammer Underworlds and Age of Sigmar, Blitz Bowl, Space Marine Adventures and The Lord of the Rings™: Quest to Mount Doom. Check out some of the action below:

Speaking of which, we’d better get back to running these demo pods now. Be sure not to miss the Halloween Specials on Warhammer Live next week where, amongst other shows, Blood Bowl supremo Andy Hoare will be revealing more about the Champions of Death. You can tune in live on Twitch for free or subscribe to catch it later on demand.
