Test of Honour is a skirmish wargame played with roughly 5-20 models on each side. Players select their force before each game based around a samurai hero along with one or two loyal samurai companions and a variety of clan soldiers.

The 6 battle scenarios included tell a tale of bitter clan rivalry, betrayal and revenge. The battles are designed to be played in order, forming an ongoing story, with consequences for the victor and loser of each game.

As you play through the scenarios your samurai will use new skills, and perhaps even take the shameful path of deceit and trickery to gain victory – such choices are the ultimate test of honour.

  • Nun ja, die Minis sehen eher zweckmäßig aus – sie sind ja auch schon etwas älter. Dafür ist das Grundspiel recht günstig. Ich weis nur nicht, ob sich dieses Setting jetzt für einen Skirmisher eignet. Wenn ich an Samurai-Kämpfe denke, denke ich mindestens an das Aufeinandertreffen kleiner Armeen – oder reinen 1 vs 1 Kämpfe zwischen zwei Samurai-Kriegern…

    • Na, das passt. Es ist halt ein Adliger mit Gefolge. Solche Konflikte kamen sehr viel öfters vor als riesige Schlachten, die waren eher die Ausnahme.

  • So ganz verstehe ich das nicht, wenn ich doch günstige, aber mittelmäßige Figuren aus Plastik habe, dann überlege ich mir doch eher ein Mass Battle als ein Skirmish um sie zu verkaufen, oder?

    Für ein Skirmish würde ich Perrys oder Zenit (Kensei) Figuren verwenden, eher nicht die von Wargames Factory.

    • Ich glaub nicht das Warlord da viel drüber nachdenkt. Das ist wie mit dem Zombiespiel. Alte Gußrahmen in neuer Verpackung zum doppeltem Preis. Dazu noch ein kleines Regelwerk erstellt und schon ist das neue „System“ fertig und wird in den Markt geworfen.

    • Eben. Wenn es wenigstens die Regeln einzeln gäbe…

      Mich kotzt dieser neue Trend echt an.

      Aber dann kaufe ich halt gar nichts. 🙂

  • Muss auch sagen, dass das doch etwas…lieblos wirkt. Da gefällt mir das Box-Design noch am ehesten – sorgt aber auch dafür, dass ich da iwie ganz andere Inhalte erwarte. Eher im Stile von Kensei.

  • Mir gefällt auf jeden Fall schon mal, dass das Spiel vom Setting her einen realistischen (nach Table Top Definition) Hintergrund hat; also ohne Dämonen, Untote, Geister usw. Weniger gut gefällt mir, dass es von den Regeln eher ein etwas komplexeres Brettspiel und weniger ein echtes Table Top zu sein scheint. o.o

  • Ich glaube, dass die Grundbox auf jeden Fall mal ihren Weg zu mir finden wird, ist einfach ein netter Einstieg und die Regeln würden mich durchaus interessieren.

  • Ich finde ja schon, dass es ein Gesetz geben sollte, dass so ein Spiel sich nicht „The Samurai Miniature Game“ nennen darf, sondern eine Formulierung wie „Yet another Samurai Miniature Game“ oder so wählen muss! 😀

    • Eigeentlich gibt e gar nicht so viele Samuraispiele 😉
      Ein Freud von mir, der recht gut umbauen kann, hat sich mit den WGF Minis eine coole Truppe für Ronin gebaut. Ohne Umbauten wirken die Figuren doch sehr dröge.
      Die Einstiegsbox ist sehr günstig, aber eigentlich nur wenn man das Spiel spielen will.
      35 Pfund für 34 Plastikminis und eine Metalmini ist dann doch nicht so günstig. Für 42 Pfund kriegt man 36 Perry Samurai, ist etwas teurer, aber sehr viel hochwertiger,

      mein Traum wären Plastiksamurai von den Perrys ^^

  • Kann mich dem Tenor nur anschließen: Wer Skirmishen will, findet bei den Perry Brüdern oder Kensei deutlich hübschere Miniatures. Wer eher größere Schlachten spielen will, sollte auf die qualitativ ebenfalls deutlich besseren 1:72 Minis von Zvezdas Samurai Battles zurückgreifen (die neuen Sculpts).
