Nein im Ernst, ich weiß ja, das sie so aussehen, wies der historische Hintergrund gebietet, aber die Ähnlichkeit ist ja unverwechselbar.
Was daher rührt, dass Tolkien die Angelsachsen als Vorbilder für die Rohirim genommen hat und sie auf Pferde gesetzt hat. Er war der Meinung, dass sie die Schlacht von Hastings wegen des Fehlens von Kavallerie verloren haben. Dieses Defizit hat er dann ausgebügelt, als er für England die Mythologie schrieb, was Mittelerde ja sein sollte.
