Dystopian Wars: Neue Flugzeugträger
Steampunkers watch the sky!
I usually describe the Prussian aesthetic in one word; obtuse. There is a no nonsense approach that the Prussians take to their ships, utilitarianism and modern design, flat angled panelling concealing the serpentine wires that power the Tesla weaponry. My favourite part is the faraday mesh grills that protect the Prussians from their own deadly electrical weapons. Concealing the flight deck behind those grills was almost the first idea for the ship, and everything seemed to fall into place after that. The Rhine is one of those ships that almost designs itself from the outset and I am sure it will make a good addition to the Prussian fleets out there.
Designing the Kiyohime was a fun process, the Japanese aesthetic has been one of my favourites since the early days of Dystopian Wars, they were a pain at first trying to come up with their unique style, and it wasn’t until I did a tiny thumbnail sketch of the cruiser that their whole aesthetic came together. Since then it’s been enormous fun making new ships for the growing Imperial Fleet, and carriers are no exception.
Since we already have the off-the-wall flying gyro carrier for the Japanese, the Assault Carrier was an excuse to introduce some more familiar naval carrier elements into the design, but without compromising the Steam Punk feel of the game or the Japanese aesthetic. The asymmetric design was also interesting to do as I think it really works with the cylindrical shapes of the Japanese fleet.
Und, mit einem Augenzwinkern von den Spartan Jungs: Der Metzger Surfer.
